small passive income while browsing the web

Introduction
If you were on the internet in the late 1990s, you might remember companies like "AllAdvantage" that promised to pay you to browse the web. You could install a program that tracked your browsing and showed you targeted ads at the top of the screen, then "AllAdvantage" would give you a cut of the ad revenue you generated.
These schemes largely disappeared after the dot-com crash. But Brendan Eich, the creator of the JavaScript programming language and cofounder and former CTO of Mozilla, thinks his company Brave Software has found a way to revive that old idea.
What is it?
Brave makes a browser based on Google Chrome that blocks tracking scripts and other technologies that spy on your online activity. As a result, it also blocks many web ads; if you visit any website using the Brave browser, you won’t see any ads. But Brave will give users the option to see ads that Eich says will respect your privacy. The ads will appear as desktop notifications, he says, not as replacements for the ads the Brave browser blocks. So you still won’t see ads on any website, but you might see them on the right lower corner of your screen. If you choose to see these ads, you’ll get 70 percent of the revenue they generate.
Eich hopes Brave can solve two of the web's most vexing problems the privacy and revenue problem by turning the traditional digital advertising model on its head. Today, ad networks pay sites for ad space and web browsers like Brave and Chrome deliver content from those publishers to users. Brave is trying to put the browser in the center of the advertising experience. Instead of paying publishers directly, ad networks would pay Brave, which will pass part of the money to users and keep a cut for itself.
By handling advertising in the browser on your device, Brave says it will be able to target ads without sending your data to the cloud, and protect your privacy. When you interact with an ad on Brave, the browser sends notice to the company's servers, but doesn't include any identifying information. Eich sees four sets of winners: browser makers get paid; users get paid, and get more privacy; advertisers can target pitches without running afoul of European privacy regulations; and publishers can survive in a world where many users are installing ad blockers.
Publishers and ad networks might bristle at the idea of putting browser makers in the middle of their business. But in recent years browsers have taken a more active role in shaping the web, instead of merely displaying a website’s content. Chrome now blocks ads on a small number of sites with particularly egregious advertising practices, while browsers like Firefox and Safari have added privacy protections. Meanwhile, browser plugins are giving users more control over their experience. There are Chrome extensions, for example, that let you change Facebook's color scheme, or change the way images are displayed on Pinterest. And of course there are extensions that block all ads.
Trying to win advertisers and publishers to a new model isn't Brave's only challenge. It also needs users. Eich says Brave has 15 million users and is growing.
Brave will give users a 70 percent cut of its advertising revenue, which Eich estimates could work out to about $10 a month. Brave will pay users with its own bitcoin-style "cryptocurrency” called Basic Attention Tokens or BAT, which has traded for as little as 24 cents over the past 12 months, according to CoinMarketCap. You can exchange the BAT you have received for viewing ads into USD, EUR, GBP, CHF and many more currencies.
The company offers a service through the cryptocurrency exchange Uphold to allow users to change, sell and buy BAT or donate it to publishers, and for publishers to exchange the BAT they receive for dollars. Advertisers like HomeDepot or recent campaigns included brands such as Verizon, Newegg, Chipotle, and PayPal/Honey, in addition to earlier campaigns by Amazon, Harry’s Razors, Intel, CBS, KIND snacks, Logitech, Lenovo, Grubhub, Belkin, Quickbooks, Evernote and some of cryptocurrency related companies, will be able to buy ads either with BAT or with traditional currencies.
Eich says Brave opted to create its own tokens using the Ethereum cryptocurrency platform in part to avoid regulatory requirements, such as verifying users' identifies, that partners like Uphold are better equipped to handle.
Estimated revenue? (depending on the country you live in the revenue can be higher or lower)
I made around 3oo$ so far this year using 3 devices, just for viewing some ads.
5 months so far july is not included if you calculate it down for 1 device, 100$/5months = 20$ a month just for viewing ads, you would need to buy risky stocks worth of 2000$ to get the same amount per month.
can only recommend everyone to try it, not every country has the same number of advertisers so you probably get the most out of it when you live in the USA.
If you are interested here is a quick guide how to set it up to get the max amount out of Brave:
Quickstartguide:
1 Download brave here
2 Activate the reward system (gif link below)Gif link
3 go into the settings an deactivate auto contribution and activate 5 ads per hour (image link below)image link
4 Create an Account on Uphold and connect it with your BraveBrowser.
Now you are good to go and can make some money on something you do anyway.
I hope this helps some folks in the community to make some extra bucks.
edit1:you can find more infos and support here:brave_browser & BATProject or www.brave.com
edit2:the earnings are depenging on the number of devices you are using and were you are living. Best paying countries: United States (69) United Kingdom (39) Canada (36) Australia (35) New Zealand (26) Germany (21) Ireland (21) France (18)( the number next to the country are the companies that are running ads on brave for this particular country, the more companies the more revenue )
you can find a full list with all countries and campaigns here: https://brave.com/transparency/
edit3:You don't need to browse to a certain website to receive ads, just browse as you are used to, play browser games, watch videos on youtube or do whatever you want.Sometimes Ads appear on the startpage looks like that https://i.imgur.com/5tohhRc.jpg and after some time on the right lower corner a clickable pop-up appears looks like that->https://i.imgur.com/CTGdVsu.png
edit4:If you want to import your bookmarks and settings from your old browser:on the right top corner of the browser is a button ->https://i.imgur.com/oi8EAri.jpg click it > than on settings > and than you got the option to import bookmarks and settings from your old browser.
If you want to sync brave between devices and for backups:type brave://flags/ into the adressbar and than brave sync into the search bar and acticate itif its enabled it should look like this https://imgur.com/a/tCMDgDjthan just click on sync ->https://i.imgur.com/oi8EAri.jpg
here is a guide ->https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/articles/360021218111-How-do-I-set-up-Sync
edit5: Don't keep your BAT from free token grants to long in your browser, always send your bat to an external wallet or exchange like uphold, only tokens from free token grants have an expire date if they dont get used they go back to the bat pool. you can find more infos about this here -> https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018305731-Why-does-my-BAT-have-an-expiration-date-

Sobre Tibia, gold farmers y un caso de ayuda y éxito PT2. Son muy buenos consejos de cómo comenzar a programar profesionalmente

Una vez más, reconocimiento al autor original de los post International-Unit-8
Hello,

I have gotten so many replies and messages since my last post in this thread, that I can't answer them all individually. Previous topic:

https://www.reddit.com/TibiaMMO/comments/h8tu5u/a_great_tip_for_brazilians_venezuelans_and_othe

It has been shared on multiple subreddits so I have no idea where to even post this. But I'd like to come up with a follow-up thread with some more information. The internet is the most powerful tool that mankind has ever invented. You have the ability to reach thousands, millions and even billions of people with just a computer and some internet access.

If you're on this subreddit, chances are you're already playing Tibia and you already have a computer and internet access. It doesn't need to be the best internet, but as long as websites will load (eventually) you are good to go.

In this topic I will go more in-depth on web development and software engineering. If you have a very slow internet connection, you may want to look into web development instead of software development. An application/software is much heavier (larger file size) than a website. And most developer jobs require that you send and download files, back and forth, between you and your company's server. So if you feel like your internet is too slow to send a lot of files - do not worry! There are plenty of jobs.

First, I will go through some more details on how to learn web development and software development. After that, I will list a few other kinds of jobs that you can do remotely. These types of jobs can be done from anywhere in the world as long as you have internet access.

Part 1: Some languages you should learn

What is web development? Well, it can be a lot of things. You perhaps make websites for shops/restaurants/hair dressers/dentists, or you work for a big company and work on their web application, like Outlook, Discord or Spotify (which can all be accessed via a browser: their web app). You can also work with design and user experience, instead of programming. Being a web developer can mean so many different things, it's impossible to name them all. But most web developers are just developers: they program. They make websites, and they either sell the websites to companies (as a consultant) or you work full/part-time for a company.

I can not provide in-depth information about every single thing, but I can give you some pointers. The very basics any web developer should know is this:

HTML (HyperText Markup Language) - it's what almost all websites use as a foundation. This is not a programming language, but it is a markup language. If you want to build websites, you pretty much have to know this language. Don't worry though, it is easy. Not so much to learn. You can learn all about it in a few weeks.

CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) - it's what will add colors and shapes to your website. If you want to focus more on design (also known as front end development) then this is where you want to gain a lot of knowledge.

Python - A very simple language to learn. This language is very often the first programming language that developers start using. You can use it for a lot of things. This language is used in the back of a lot of websites. Google has been using Python for years and still is. It's great for web scraping and making web requests. If you want a language to practice your algorithms, then this language is awesome.

PHP - This used to be a very popular language, but not so much these days. However, it is very good to know how this works because it's very simple to learn and also very functional in some cases. If you want to transmit or withdraw information from a database to your website, then this (in combination with SQL) is a great way to do so. Whenever you make a login system or a contact form, the data must be sent somehow to a recipient or a database. PHP will help you do that. It is a server-side language, which means it will run in the back of the website.

SQL - To be able to communicate with databases (for example: save data, update data, or insert data) you can use different languages for that. But SQL is probably the most widely used language for this. It is basically just a bunch of commands that you tell your website or app to do. If you have a web shop for example, you will need a database to store all your product information in. You can for example use MySQL as your database and then use the SQL language to extract data from your database and publish it as a list of products on your website.

JavaScript - Perhaps the most powerful language at the moment. Anyone who is good at JavaScript will be able to learn most other modern programming languages. In recent years, the demand for good JavaScript developers has skyrocketed. It's because more applications are becoming web based, and JavaScript is probably among the most useful languages to use. You can use it for so many things. Previously JavaScript was only being run on the client side of the website (that means in the user's browser). But in recent years, there has been massive development of this language and you are now able to build servers, connect to databases and do very powerful web applications using just this language. A great tutorial for JavaScript was made by Tony Alicea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bv_5Zv5c-Ts This video is "just" 3.5 hours, but it's the intro. There is a much longer version of it, and you can download it for free if you search for it. Just find it as a torrent and watch it. It's probably the best tutorial I have seen for JavaScript.

C# - It's pronounced as "C Sharp". This language has been dominating the software engineering market for decades at this point. Everyone loves it. It's relatively easy to learn and you can build a lot of stuff in C#. It's very much like JavaScript, but focuses more on application development rather than website development. I would however try to avoid learning this language if you have very slow internet, since you will most likely be sending a ton of files back and forth. But if application (computer & phone) is your thing, then this language is great. There are so many tutorials on this, but there is 1 channel on YouTube which teaches a lot of the basics in C# (and many other languages) and that channel is called ProgrammingKnowledge. Sure, his C# videos may be old now but most of it is still relevant and useful. You will learn a lot by watching his videos. It's always good to start from the beginning and then when you're familiar with that, you can learn more about the recent updates in C#. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2A8tcb_YyY&list=PLS1QulWo1RIZrmdggzEKbhnfvCMHtT-sA

Java - This is pretty much 90% identical to C# as I wrote above. Widely used, relatively easy to learn the basics and there's plenty of jobs. If you like making android apps, this language is for you.

Part 2: Technologies and useful tools

To become a web developer you will need a few tools. You need a text editor, a FTP client, a SSH client and some other things. Also a good browser.

Text editor: Visual Studio Code, Atom, Sublime Text, Brackets - There are many different text editors but at the moment, I highly recommend Visual Studio Code. It has so many built-in features it's honestly the only thing you may need.Don't forget to install Notepad++ as well - this very basic editor is so handy when you just quickly need to edit some files.

File archiving: WinRar, 7-Zip - You need some way of archiving projects and send it to your customer or employer. These are basic tools anyone should use. I personally use Winrar.

FTP (File Transfer Protocol): FileZilla - This tool will allow you to connect to your website's file manager and upload your files to it. There are many tools for connecting to an FTP server but this is the most popular one, it's simple and it works great.

VPS (Virtual Private Server): Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud - If you want to practice building web applications or want to host your own website as a fun project, it's great to use a VPS for that. Both Amazon and Google offers 365 days of free VPS usage. All you need is a credit card. However, they will not charge you, as long as you stay below the free tier limit. A VPS is basically a remote computer that you can connect to. I highly recommend that, if you have a slow internet connection. Those VPS-servers (by Amazon and Google) usually have 500mbit/s internet speed, which is faster than most countries in the world. You simply connect to them via Remote Desktop, or by SSH. Depending on what type of server you are using (Windows or Linux).

SSH (Secure Shell): Solar-PuTTY, PuTTY - If you for example have a web server where you store applications and files, a great way to connect to it is by using SSH. PuTTY is pretty much the standard when it comes to SSH clients. But I really love the version created by SolarWinds. When you download that one, do not enter your personal details. Their sales people will call you and haunt you! Haha.

File Searching: Agent Ransack - When you have many files and try to locate a specific document or file, you may want to use something like Agent Ransack. Much faster than the traditional search feature in Windows and it is much more accurate.

IDE / Code Editor: Visual Studio - Great tool to use when you want to create applications in C# for example. Do not confuse this with Visual Studio Code. These are two very different tools. This tool (Visual Studio) is more designed for Windows applications. Not just websites. I only recommend getting it if you plan to make programs for Windows.

Web host & domain: NameCheap, Epik, SiteGround - If you develop websites on your own, or maybe want to create a portfolio website, you will need a domain name and web hosting. I have personally used all of these 3 and they are very cheap. NameCheap has some of the cheapest domains and great web hosting for a low price. Their support is also great. Same with SiteGround. And if you want to buy a domain anonymously (with Bitcoin for example), then you can use Epik. Low prices and great customer service on all these 3 websites.

Web Server: XAMPP, Nginx - If you plan to practice PHP, you will need to have a web server on your local computer. If you have Windows, I would highly recommend installing XAMPP (Apache). It is very easy to use for beginners. If you're on Linux, I would recommend Nginx. Also check our PhpMyAdmin if you want to quickly setup a MySQL database locally.Bonus tip: If you use Visual Studio Code to create websites in HTML, CSS and JavaScript: then install the extension "live server" and you can run your applications on a live server without setting it up yourself. Tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzE0yqwbdgU

Web Browser: Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge Insider, Google Chrome - You need one of the latest web browsers to create websites these days. Since I prefer privacy over functionality, I've always loved Firefox. But recently, Microsoft has been improving its new version of Edge a lot (based on Chromium) and it's also very popular. If you want all your personal details to be saved and have good tools for web development, then use Google Chrome. Don't forget to utilize the built-in developer tools. You can access it in any of these browsers by pressing F12.

Other things you may want to look into:

If you want to learn in-depth about algorithms, data structures and more. Then you can take a look at the curriculum of the top-tier universities of USA. Such as: UC Berkeley, Harvard and MIT. These courses are very hard and are specifically for people who want to become experts in software engineering. You can enroll some of them for free, like the one on Harvard. And by having a such diploma (which costs $90 extra) can get you a lot of job opportunities. You can enroll those courses if you want, but it can have a fee. But just take a look at what they are studying and try do their exercises, that is 100% free. Get the knowledge. It's mostly on video too! These course below are the very same courses that many of the engineers at Facebook, Google, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Uber, AirBnb, Twitter, LinkedIn, Microsoft, etc. has taken. It's what majority of people in Silicon Valley studied. And it's among the best classes that you can take. These course are held by some of the world's best professors in IT.

Part 5: Other types of jobs you can work with (remotely) - with/without coding experience

SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

Translations (Spanish/Portuguese, etc.)

Affiliate Marketing (look into Clickbank.com - and use Facebook Ads to promote products)

Design (web design, photo design, etc.)

Copywriting (write sales letters for companies)

Database manager (monitor and administrate a company's database)

YouTube - make YouTube videos to gain views. Views = Money.

Dropshipping (use Shopify.com for example) and sell products in a webshop. Benefit with dropshipping is that you don't personally store the products.

Customer support

more...? Banking, economics, etc.

You can find information about all of the things I have mentioned by using YouTube or Google search.

Hope it helps.

And I hope that in 1 year, there will be at least some new web developers in Brazil, Venezuela and other countries in South America.

Intents Festival, The Online Festival v2.0 | Livesets Download (With Saturday!)

Intents Festival, The Online Festival v2.0 | Livesets Download Single sets can be downloaded via a torrent client. The source of the rip for 'Intents Festival, The Online Festival' is a copy of their Twitch Livestream, recorded using streamlink. I never use screen or audio records.
All the 3 stages, Friday Pre-Party, Saturday Outdoor Mainstage and Indoor Stage are all in 1 spreadsheet with multiple tabs. But here are the links directly to the correct tab: Friday Pre-Party Saturday Outdoor Mainstage Saturday Indoor Stage
If you use BitTorrent or μTorrent, shame on you. Get a good torrent client like qBittorrent or Deluge, they dont include advertisements and work as well, if not better.
New! a less than 1 minute tutorial on how to download a liveset if do you do not have qBittorrent yet! Use the pause button if it goes too fast ;) To copy a link from the spreadsheet use 'CTRL+C' or any other equivalent for your OS. You can also add all the livesets at once Example
Note: If you have issues with the download not strarting, you can add my seedbox as a peer manually: 185.45.195.189:20117 Quick tutorial on how to do thisClick me
Note 2: Downloading sets from the Indoor Stage are currently slow as fuck because they are still getting uploaded to a server.

Small passive income

You can swap the BAT you have received for viewing ads into USD, EUR, GBP, CHF and many more currencies.
The company offers a service through the cryptocurrency exchange Uphold to allow users to swap, sell and buy BAT or donate it to publishers, and for publishers to exchange the BAT they receive for dollars.
1 Download brave here
2 Activate the reward system (gif link below) Gif link
3 go into the settings an deactivate auto contribution and activate 5 ads per hour (image link below) image link
4 Create an Account on Uphold and connect it with your BraveBrowser.
Now you are good to go and can make some money on something you do anyway.
I hope this helps some folks in the fire community to make some extra bucks.

v11.0.1 (2020-03-31)
* Minor definition updates for sub-tools and A/V engines
v11.0.0 (2020-02-05)
+ Add switch REMOVE_MALWAREBYTES (-rmb) to have Tron automatically uninstall Malwarebytes at the end of the run
+ Add switch SKIP_COOKIE_CLEANUP (-scc) to have Tron preserve ALL browser cookies. This is NOT generally recommended as Tron now automatically preserves the most common login cookies (chase.com, spotify.com, gmail.com, etc) and wiping other tracking cookies is still good for user privacy and security. You can see the list of cookies Tron preserves in this file. Thanks to tbr:sebastian.
- Remove BleachBit. This is despite the fact that I prefer BleachBit over CCleaner. Reason 1) It performs the same function as CCleaner. Reason 2) It doesn't support excluding certain cookie domains from wiping (the main reason). Once BleachBit supports cookie whitelisting, we will switch over to it exclusively and remove CCleaner from Tron
* Stage 1: Temp file cleanup: Streamline user profile cleanup code, removing a redundant code block
! Stage 5: Patch: Suppress Windows Defender update output unless running in verbose mode
* Update all sub-tools and definition files

The games that are included in the casino’s collection have been created with an adaptive and responsive design. There are well over 500 games, created to keep the players coming back to the site time and time again- blackjack, slots, live dealer games, poker, roulette, bingo, lotto etc.
Slots are probably the most popular type of game, primarily thanks to the ‘speed round’ bonus the casino has, that could naturally be played mostly on slot games. There are many varieties-multi-line, 3-reel, 1- pay line, and so on. The casino has included the most popular and exciting slot games in its line-up, such as Mega Moolah, The Dark Knight, King Cashalot, Mega Fortune, Gonzo’s Quest, Game of Thrones and many others.
Blackjack is a game that requires a little more skill, so it’s preferred mostly by professional players. Blitzino Casino’s blackjack collection includes many famous titles, such as American Blackjack, Pontoon, Single Deck Blackjack, Double Deck Blackjack, Progressive Blackjack and Super 21 Blackjack. Roulette is a well-known game of chance. The casino has featured a few of the most popular versions- European roulette, French roulette and American roulette.
Poker in Blitzino Casino also comes with a few variations – Texas Hold’em, Caribbean Stud poker, Triple Stud, 7- Card Stud, Ace 5 Low- Ball, 2-7 Single Draw, 2-7 Triple Draw, 5- Card Omaha and many more. Besides, there are two games that the site offers, which are not utilized much in other casinos – these are the games Bingo and Lotto. They are great for beginners because the stakes are low. Players can gradually improve their skills, before trying their luck at a more advanced game like video poker or blackjack.
Blitzino Casino has an impressive collection of Live dealer games. These types of games provide a comfortable atmosphere, incredible graphics and a helpful dealer who is always ready to come to the aid of the wondering player. The list of Live casino games mostly feature versions of Roulette, Blackjack and Poker, as those titles are the most common in the selection.

Blitzino Casino Mobile App

Blitzino Casino are yet to develop a mobile app, but it does not mean you can’t enjoy their games on your smartphone devices. The casino’s mobile version works just fine and is a clone of its desktop version. All casino games available on the desktop version can be found in your mobile browser. In order to play your favorite games at Blitzino Casino from your mobile device, simply load the website from your preferred browser.

Blitzino Casino Payment Methods

The site uses only the most convenient payment methods. This way, it’s easier for the customers to quickly deposit or withdrawal the money if they need to. The top three ways a player can transfer money when they make an account at Blitzino Casino are using Trustly, a bank wire transfer and a Cryptocurrency.
Trustly has the reputation of a safe, fast and simple-to-use method of making transactions. There isn’t a stated withdrawal limit, and the pending time is rather quick at around 15 minutes per transaction. Cryptocurrency is a newly developed way for players around the world to make transactions. With this casino, transfers are usually made with Bitcoin.

Blitzino Casino Conclusion

Blitzino Casino is an online gambling establishment, created in 2018. Though the site is recent, the operators have made it clear that they prioritize the safety of the players. Blitzino Casino uses high-quality forms of encryption to ensure that the personal information of customers stays intact. The primary language, in which the casino site operates is German.
Furthermore, the site has partnered up with numerous software providers, to give the gamblers a multitude of different and exciting games to enjoy. The downsides are that there aren’t many bonuses or promotions or that many different payment methods. This could be explained with the fact that the site has only recently come into being, and therefore has plenty of time to improve on these aspects of its portfolio.

Network effect doesn't explain Bitcoin dominance : technical arguments for Bitcoin Maximalism

I often saw some Bitcoiners counter the altcoin shillers with the following argument: "Bitcoin is the first so it has the network effect, so your altcoin will always worth less"
This is not totally wrong but I think this argument is bad. Using it implies implicitly that you admit that Bitcoin is technically less capable than altcoins with their higher transaction rate, fast blocks, instant confirmation, without fees and smart contract support....

And this is WRONG ! Bitcoin price is higher, because Bitcoin is already TECHNICALLY BETTER than any other altcoin and not because of network effect. In 2017, Bitcoin dominance was lower, some altcoin reaches almost the same level than Bitcoin. So network effect is not what prevents an altcoin to take the lead but it is the fact that almost all altcoin that pretend to be better than Bitcoin are technically flawed.
Why ? They use bigger blocks, DAGs (Directed Acyclic Graphs, like used in IOTA or Nano) or wtf they created to disturbe you and make you believe they are better than the good old Bitcoin blockchain. But they have at least one of these two weak points: validation time oand bandwidth.

If they use biggefaster blocks, validation time of block is higher and so block propagation is slower. Less nodes can operate as they may not be able to validate blocks fast enough to keep up with the tip of the chain. You end up like Ethereum that has less and less full verification nodes leading to centralization of the network.
If they use DAGs, they achieve consensus through a "proof-of-stake" vote and always at the cost of bandwidth (quadratic cost in number of node, linear in transaction rate). DAGs are often presented as "each node has its own ledger" but the reality is that the only global ledger you should trust is the complete DAG of the ledgers of each node. Only servers with a shitload of download bandwidth can maintain it as debunked here and here. To not look (in fact be) centralized, some DAG altcoins doesn't, opening the door to history rewrite by buying account that owned a big stake before and still use a lot of bandwidth to reach consensus. Bitcoin just add 80 bytes of proof-of-work data on a block of 1-2MB to achieve it and protect from history rewrite, almost zero cost for the network (that's why we pay fees to miners who carry the cost).
You only have those problems when it reaches a critical level of usage and only then we can see how much those limits where ignored. Until now, very few altcoins reached the limit (maybe Ethereum, and IOTA shows us it is centralized already by stopping the network)
Bitcoin has the highest price because Bitcoin is technically the only possible decentralized king (and a centralized cryptocurrency worths nothing). Yes maybe 1MB limit was too conservativ, yes fees are higher, yes 10 minutes is slow. But if everyone wants their coffee payment to be settled onchain, 1MB or 8MB or 32MB each 10 minutes, minutes or secondes will never be enough while it is a big difference for the network health. You only need the blockchain for settlement, for payment you have Lightning Network that can already destroy PayPal's transaction rate.
So next time you feel convinced by an altcoin that pretend to be better than Bitcoin while being decentralized by design, evaluate the requirement to be a fully validating node and what the overhead of bandwidth needed to achieve consensus. The chances are high that they didn't take care of one of these two issues and end up centralized or broken. You don't need the network effect argument.

Spreading Crypto: In Search of the Killer Application

Spreading Crypto: In Search of the Killer Application
This is the second post of our Spreading Crypto series where we take a deep dive into what it’ll take to help this technology reach broader adoption.
Mick exploring the state of apps in crypto
Our previous post explored the history of protocols and how they only become widely adopted when a compelling application makes them more accessible and easier to use.
Crypto will be no different. Blockchain technology today is mostly all low-level protocols. As with the numerous protocols that came before, these new, decentralized protocols need killer applications.
So, how’s that going? Where is crypto’s killer application? What’s the state of application development within our industry? Today we’ll try to answer those questions. We’ll also take a close look at decentralized applications — as that’s where a lot of the developer energy and focus currently is. Let’s dive in.

Popular Crypto Applications

The most popular crypto applications today are exchanges like Coinbase and Binance — each with tens of millions of users. Other popular crypto exchanges include Kraken, Bitstamp, Gemini, and Bitfinex. In recent years, new derivatives platforms have emerged like FTX and Deribit.
The most popular crypto applications today are primarily focused on trading, speculation, and finance. This class of applications dwarfs all other types of applications in terms of users and growth. That’s either a sign of strong product/market fit, or we just haven’t yet discovered other good use-cases. Or a mix of both.
https://preview.redd.it/8rnxghfrdh551.png?width=1600&format=png&auto=webp&s=b3df8c3d87410f6b84432df79528ee4324daf04d
Beyond the fact that the most popular crypto applications are all used for speculation, another common thread is that they are all centralized.
A centralized application means that ultimate power and control rests with a centralized party (the company who built it). For example, if Coinbase or Binance wants to block you from withdrawing your funds for whatever reason (maybe for suspicious activity or fraud), they can do that. They have control of their servers so they have control of your funds.
Most popular applications that we all use daily are centralized (Netflix, Facebook, Youtube, etc). That’s the standard for modern, world-class applications today.

Decentralized Applications

Even though the most popular crypto applications are all centralized, most of the developer energy and focus in our industry is with decentralized applications (dApps) and non-custodial products.
These are products where only the user can touch or move funds. Not even the company or developer who built the application can access or control or stop funds from being moved. Only the user has control.
These applications allow users to truly become their own bank and have absolute control of their money.
They also allow users to perform blockchain transactions and interact directly with decentralized protocols. Some of the most popular non-custodial products include Ledger, MetaMask, and MyCrypto (#ProudInvestor).
While the benefits of this type of application are obvious (user has full control of their funds), it comes with a lot of tradeoffs. We will cover that later in this post.
https://preview.redd.it/rs6tj7vsdh551.png?width=1600&format=png&auto=webp&s=86fe5bca3a9466abab5e78c9873ce3b57609f2d2

Libertarianism + Crypto

If the most popular applications tend to be centralized (inside and out of crypto), why is so much of our community focused on building decentralized applications (dApps)? For the casual observer, that’s a reasonable, valid question.
“Not your keys, not your coins.”
This meme is endlessly repeated among longtime crypto hodlers. If you’re not in complete control of your crypto (i.e. using non-custodial wallets or dApps), then it’s not really your crypto.
Engrained in the early culture of Bitcoin has always been a strong distrust for centralized authority and power — including the too-big-to-fail government-backed financial system. In the midst of the Financial Crisis, Satoshi Nakamoto included this headline in Bitcoin’s genesis block: “Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks.” There has always been a close connection between libertarianism & cryptocurrency.
So it’s no surprise that much of the crypto developer community is spending their time building applications that are non-custodial or decentralized. It’s part of the DNA, the soul, the essence of our community.

Personal Experience

When I was at Mainframe, we built Mainframe OS — a platform that developers use to build and launch decentralized applications (dApps). I’m deeply familiar with what’s possible and what’s not in the world of dApps. I have the battle scars and gray hair to prove it. We’ve hosted panels around the various challenges. We’ve even produced videos poking fun at how complicated it is for end-users to interact with.
After having spent three years in the trenches of this non-custodial world, I no longer believe that decentralized applications are capable of bringing crypto to the masses.
While I totally understand and appreciate the ethos of self-sovereignty, independence, and liberty… I think it’s a terrible mistake that as a community we are spending most of our time in this area of application development. Decentralized applications will not take crypto to the masses.
Mainframe OS

Overwhelming Friction

The user friction that comes with decentralized applications is just too overwhelming. Let’s go through a few of the bigger points:
  1. Knowledge & Education: Most non-custodial products do not abstract away any of the blockchain complexity. In fact, they often expose more of it because the most loyal users are crypto nerds. Imagine how a normie n00b feels when she starts seeing words like seed phrases, public & private keys, gas limits, transaction fees, blockchain explorers, hex addresses, and confirmation times. There is a lot for a user to learn and become educated on. That’s friction. The learning curve on this is just too damn high.
  2. User Experience: It is currently impossible to create a smooth and performant user experience in non-custodial wallets or decentralized applications. Any interaction that requires a blockchain transaction will feel sluggish and slow. We built a messaging app on Ethereum and presented it at DevCon3 in Cancun. The technical constraints of blockchain technology were crushing to the user experience. We simply couldn’t create the real-time, modern messaging experience that users have come to expect from similar apps like Slack or WhatsApp. Until blockchains are closer in speed to web servers (which will be difficult given their decentralized nature), dApps will never be able to create the smooth user experience that the masses expect.
  3. Loss of Funds Risk: There is no “Forgot Password” functionality when storing your own crypto in a non-custodial wallet. There is no customer support agent you can ping. There is no company behind it that can make you whole if you make a mistake and lose your money. You are on your own. One wrong move and your money is all gone. If you lose your private key, there is no way to recover your funds. This just isn’t the type of customer support experience people want or are used to.
Onyx Messaging App

What Our Industry Has Wrong

Decentralized applications will always have a place in the market — especially among the most hardcore crypto people and parts of the world where these tools are essential. I’m personally an active user of many non-custodial products. I’m a blockchain early-adopter, I like to hold my own money, and I’m very forgiving of suboptimal UX.
However, I’m not afraid to say the poop stinks. Decentralized applications simply cannot produce the type of product experience that mainstream consumers expect.
If the goal is growth and adoption, as a community I believe we’re barking up the wrong tree. We are trying to make fetch happen. It isn’t gonna happen. Our Netscape Moment is unlikely to arrive as long as we’re focused on decentralized applications.
\"Mean Girls\" movie
There’s a reason why the most popular consumer applications are centralized (Spotify, Amazon, Instagram, etc). There’s a reason why the most popular crypto applications are centralized (Coinbase, Binance, etc).
The frameworks, tooling, infrastructure, and services to support these modern, centralized applications are mature and well-established. It’s easier to build apps that are fast & performant. It’s easier to launch apps that are convenient and on all form-factors (especially mobile). It’s easier to distribute and promote via all the major app store channels (iOS/Android). It’s easier to patch, update, and upgrade. It’s easier to experiment and iterate.
It’s easier to design, build, and launch a world-class application when it is centralized! It is why we’ve chosen this path for Genesis Block.

Tron v11.0.0 (2020-02-05) // Automatically preserve login cookies for common sites (chase.com, gmail.com, etc); Add REMOVE_MALWAREBYTES and SKIP_COOKIE_CLEANUP switches; Improve Windows Disk Cleanup, Remove BleachBit (see notes); streamline user profile cleanup

Background

Tron is a script that "fights for the User." Think of it as a tech on a thumb drive that automates ~87% of the tedious work in cleaning a Windows system, with some things left to the discretion of the tech. It is built with heavy reliance on community input and updated regularly.

Saves a log to C:\logs\tron\tron.log (configurable).

Changelog

(significant changes in bold; full changelog on Github)
v11.0.0 (2020-02-05)
Once BleachBit supports cookie whitelisting, we will switch over to it exclusively and retire CCleaner from Tron
* Stage 1: Temp file cleanup: Streamline user profile cleanup code, removing a redundant code block
! Stage 5: Patch: Suppress Windows Defender update output unless running in verbose mode
* Update all sub-tools and definition files

Everyone from time to time has an interest in entering into a variety of investments with the aim of earning income from their home or comfort as long as they do not have to go through an inefficient employment system. This is the result of technological developments around, and to achieve this, many fall victim to con artists who promise a platform to get a comfortable income. Today I will introduce the ICO IQ cash project, one of the PLATFORM THAT ALLOWS YOU TO GET IN YOUR COMFORT.

What is IQ cash

IQ Cash is a cryptocurrency that may be used to run and increase further exposure to what has been offered. Making it is to remove from where to stop because it has been made and decided to go further because it was not possible. IQ can be used to get a place that has to be part of this trend, even if we are looking for an open place where investors can do the same with other investors. The aim is to give everyone not agreement about most and at least ROI in 300% or more of you in passive form. The IQCash company is truly unique because it will allow users to get the maximum return on investment. IQ cash is a company that will be able to combine the best and most perfect opportunities to lead exchanges in the cryptocurrency market. With IQ network Masternode you can avoid a variety of situations, problems, and unusual problems, and such a process will eliminate any deficiencies. The IQCash platform is also suitable for traders who already have experience in their activities, and of course for novice traders who have just entered the door of buying and selling crypto. No one will experience problems, everyone will only admire sales using IQCash. Learn more — http://iq.cash.

Why I chose to take a position on IQ. Cash?

Because there are many kinds of benefits for investors. except for profits up to 300%, I will be able to introduce all profits to investors. 1. Security Cryptocurrency now has a variant of active users in the world and also the number is growing rapidly! User accounts cannot be blocked, and funds cannot be accessed by anyone but the owner. 2.MASTERNODE Iq. Cash uses the consensus of the PoW algorithm with the support of the Masternode system. This makes the project economically attractive to mine 43% and provides 57% of passive income for Masternode holders. Masternode provides network integrity, transaction anonymity, and transaction speed. ways to get Masternode: You must take the position of 3000 IQ. 3. ANONIMITY The anonymity of transactions in the system is provided by the PrivateSend algorithm. Users can trust the system completely. they don’t need to worry about third-party access to data because the system encrypts data securely when transferring and receiving assets. 4. ASIC RESISTANCE Technology that solves problems accelerates the expansion of network complexity significantly when using ASIC (compared to CPU usage). IQ Cash Network uses the NeoScrypt algorithm to solve this problem. 5. TRANSACTION speed High-speed transactions are guaranteed by InstantSend data exchange across networks. The transaction time is about 5 seconds. 6. IQ Network decentralized. Cash implies weaknesses to create sites that combine the dominant influence on other network members. Effects on coins that are excluded due to their release are prohibited, and extra emission is not provided.

How to get an annual profit of 300%.

  1. Buy 3,000 IQ or better 3001 because 1 is spent on commission transactions.
  2. Download the Files application (Android or iOS) for mobile devices Open IQ. Cash Coin Purses in the application.
  3. Enter 3,001 IQ in the wallet and create a MasterNode server and deposit. Pay for hosting service providers on Flits.
  4. You will be charged EUR 1.99 per month, get profit and spend on your needs or create the next MasterNode to extend profits in line with the number of MasterNode!

How do I buy cash IQ

Go to the acquisition page and you will see an open window where you will pay the amount of coins you want to shop for. You don’t need to worry about the next steps because we will arrange the rest by buying IQ coins. Cash and FLS (to close Flits services) from the exchange.
  1. Fill in «IQ wallet address» and «FLS wallet address» in the Flits application.
  2. get a package. One package includes 3000 IQ. Cash and Bitcoin services for Flits for five months. When the cash transfer is complete, open the IQ-MasterNode window and make it comparable to the coins purchased (3000 IQ for 1 MasterNode).
  3. activate MasterNode and get profit. You will follow the current exchange rate on the Flits application or with any crypto trading coins.

Wallets and Exchanges:

The IQ cryptocurrency wallet is available on all three Windows, Mac and Linux platforms.

Token Information:

• Algorithm: PoW, NeoScrypt (ASIC resistance) • Block time: 120 seconds • Prizes per block: 25 IQ • Block Block Reward Distribution: 57% to Masternodes and 43% to Miners, both taken from the formula (Reward-6%), where 6% is reserved for the DAO system • Block rewards can be sliced 12% every year • Max coins: 56 900,000 IQ • Premine: 7 900 000 IQ • Mining within 25 years

Conclusion

IQ.cash has studied the crypto market well enough to draw the model. This uses the mining system and MasterNode. The mining protocol will attract contributors exponentially while MasterNode will help ensure network speed, governance, and sustainability. Because MasterNode is also a cryptocurrency node, becoming a MasterNode on the IQ.cash system requires an investment commitment. This is a way to make a profit in this system. Investment is rewarded with a commission for each trade made by the system. This will help ensure that enough users try to become a MasterNode and thus make a profit without having to leave the comfort of their home.

IQ Cash: make 300% yearly profit

IQ Cash: make 300% yearly profit

IQ.cash is a unique global platform on the blockchain, created both for investors and traders and miners. The main objective of the platform is to provide real-time, anonymous payments and real-time investments for crypto enthusiasts.
The IQ.cash project team has already developed for their investors the IQ Masternode network that they use. Also, the IQ coin is presented on such well-known exchanges as HitBTC, BitHumb Glogal, P2PB2B, CoinsBit, BitForex, CREX24 and Mercatox. Therefore, traders can easily trade it! If an investor has more than 3000 IQ on his balance sheet, then he can receive passive income 57% of the block, miners, in turn, receive 43% of the block. We still have 6%, which are reserved for DAO (decentralized autonomous organizations), that is, they are used to invest, for example, in ICO projects, websites, trading bots, and improving the entire IQ ecosystem . cash and so on. All of these unique features can help make the IQ.cash platform popular around the world.

https://preview.redd.it/qq7jq59xqry41.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=1f2bf849bbbe65d199a858e595acae2cb8153cc5
Now I am going to share with you the concept which our company has come up with for IQ.cash crypto coin. Its mechanism was developed to share the profit between miners as a reward for the transactions operated by IT specialists and MasterNode owners with 3,000 IQ.cash deposit as a commission for assisting the server system by investing in it. This is simply how the coin has been programmed.

5 steps to make 300% yearly profit

  • Purchase 3,000 IQ or better 3,001 as 1 will be spent on the transaction commission
  • Download the Flits App (Android or IOS) for the mobile device
  • Open an IQ.cash coin wallet in the app
  • Put 3,001 IQ into the wallet and create a MasterNode server and a deposit
  • Pay the hosting provider service fee at Flits. It will cost you EUR 1.99 per month

https://preview.redd.it/dprjus71rry41.jpg?width=1213&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=65a9e0c01257821bf6299a6f5ef0cb2d7e54753a
IQ.cash coin was created the way so the profit is split in proportion of 57% and 43% between MasterNode (server with deposit) owners and miners accordingly. Additional 6% DAO is reserved to be either shared with people helping to develop the IQ.cash project or to simply dissolve once a month.
What are MasterNodes created for? To simplify, those are assistant servers which let IQ.cash coin to operate the payments inside the blockchain system. To create such a server, the owner must ‘rent’ it from the hoster. Its cost might vary from US $1 to US $4 per month. You must have a 3,000 IQ deposit to make the investment work. The deposit will be blocked by the system, so starting this very moment the system is adding the commission for your assistance to the project which can be spent or used to create new deposits and servers. One server and one deposit form a MasterNode!
In case you are not interested in a profit you can unblock the deposit and trade it at any of seven exchanges where our coins are used. Currently the profit is 300% a year but the bigger MasterNode is, the smaller the commission becomes as the reward is limited and splits equally between all the participating investors. The more people are willing to make deposits, the higher the price of the coin rises at the exchange, so the more profit it makes.
Get the profit and spend it on your needs or create the next MasterNode to increase the profit accordingly to the number of MasterNodes!
It is easier than it seems and you will get the profit bigger than any investment can provide. People really do that for a living!

And now let's get into how you can purchase it.

👉Go to the buy page and you will see the window opening where you can to pay for the amount of coins you would like to purchase. You don't have to worry about the following steps as we will manage the rest by buying IQ.cash and FLS coins (to cover the Flits service) from the exchange.
  • Fill in the fields «IQ wallet address» and «FLS wallet address» in the Flits app
  • Pay for the package. One package includes both 3000 IQ.cash and Bitcoin for five months of Flits service. The moment the money transfer is complete, open the window IQ – MasterNode and create them proportionally to coins purchased (3000 IQ for 1 MasterNode)
  • Switch on the MasterNode and get the profit. You can follow the current rate in the Flits App or at any crypto exchange trading IQ.cash coins:
If You don't understand? This link will help you: 👉 Open the step-by-step guide to creating a IQ.Cash Masternode.
What did I like about this project? Yes, almost everything. Here I did not hear the promises of the Golden Mountains when participating in the project, which many others are doing in order to only attract investors. Perhaps this is why this project remained in the shadow of upstarts and continued to work, to bring its beginnings to its logical conclusion. And now, when everything works as an ideal mechanism, the team decided to declare itself as a full-fledged player in this field. And this is very correct, since such projects with a good reputation and a finished product can be counted on the fingers of one hand.

Problematic Filters (I think)? (Also Suggestion for Developers)

A couple days ago YouTube was working correctly, but recently videos are stuck on the loading circle. I'm certain theirs a mischievous filter, but I need some help on finding this filter or another suggestion. Someone tell me the best filters I should keep on my list and the filters I should get rid of. I'm not concerned about my RAM or speed, but my main issue right now is that YouTube is not playing videos unless I turn off uBlock Origin. In addition, I have a suggestion for the developer or developers = Can you make a button in your extension that can create its own filter using all the filters the user has, but this button would delete any duplicate filters. Basically Gorhilla or the developers/volunteers, I'm asking if you can or know any software that can allow me to "optimize" my filter list by getting rid of duplicate rules/links or filters (whichever is easier for you developers), because if I remember correctly, when their are two uBlock filters with the same rule/link, one filter will either disable the other filter's rule/link or just disable the rule/link entirely, IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY. IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY, this is a horrible program/extension flaw/design, because most people who just willy nilly get third party filters, might not even realize that their entire list could be garbage, because of one or two filters. An easier way is maybe having a stronger suggested list on Reddit, that we can click on each filter, than a new tab opens going to a filter subscription site to add your filters to ours more easily, maybe? ONE MORE THING, I will not be replying back to this thread, this is a throwaway account, just for the sake of asking my question and to fix my issue by coming back and reading what this Reddit group's answers/solutions are, SO YEAH. If the community helps me, than THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! ALSO, if you're reading this Gorhilla and developers/volunteers, than THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking the time out of your days and nights to create such an AMAZING EXTENSION FOR THE ENTIRE WORLD, AND FOR READING MY SUGGESTION!!!!! THIS COMMUNITY AND I ARE VERY APPRECIATIVE OF THE HARD WORK YOU DEVELOPERS DO FOR ALL OF US, AGAIN THANK YOU!!!!!
Also, does anyone have THE BEST EVER FILTER LIST TO USE? I would love to hear what filters this Reddit group uses to create an amazing filter list!!!

Groestlcoin 6th Anniversary Release

Introduction

Dear Groestlers, it goes without saying that 2020 has been a difficult time for millions of people worldwide. The groestlcoin team would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone our best to everyone coping with the direct and indirect effects of COVID-19. Let it bring out the best in us all and show that collectively, we can conquer anything.
The centralised banks and our national governments are facing unprecedented times with interest rates worldwide dropping to record lows in places. Rest assured that this can only strengthen the fundamentals of all decentralised cryptocurrencies and the vision that was seeded with Satoshi's Bitcoin whitepaper over 10 years ago. Despite everything that has been thrown at us this year, the show must go on and the team will still progress and advance to continue the momentum that we have developed over the past 6 years.
In addition to this, we'd like to remind you all that this is Groestlcoin's 6th Birthday release! In terms of price there have been some crazy highs and lows over the years (with highs of around $2.60 and lows of $0.000077!), but in terms of value– Groestlcoin just keeps getting more valuable! In these uncertain times, one thing remains clear – Groestlcoin will keep going and keep innovating regardless. On with what has been worked on and completed over the past few months.

UPDATED - Groestlcoin Core 2.18.2

This is a major release of Groestlcoin Core with many protocol level improvements and code optimizations, featuring the technical equivalent of Bitcoin v0.18.2 but with Groestlcoin-specific patches. On a general level, most of what is new is a new 'Groestlcoin-wallet' tool which is now distributed alongside Groestlcoin Core's other executables.
NOTE: The 'Account' API has been removed from this version which was typically used in some tip bots. Please ensure you check the release notes from 2.17.2 for details on replacing this functionality.

ALL NEW - Groestlcoin Moonshine iOS/Android Wallet

Built with React Native, Moonshine utilizes Electrum-GRS's JSON-RPC methods to interact with the Groestlcoin network.
GRS Moonshine's intended use is as a hot wallet. Meaning, your keys are only as safe as the device you install this wallet on. As with any hot wallet, please ensure that you keep only a small, responsible amount of Groestlcoin on it at any given time.

ALL NEW! – HODL GRS Android Wallet

HODL GRS connects directly to the Groestlcoin network using SPV mode and doesn't rely on servers that can be hacked or disabled.
HODL GRS utilizes AES hardware encryption, app sandboxing, and the latest security features to protect users from malware, browser security holes, and even physical theft. Private keys are stored only in the secure enclave of the user's phone, inaccessible to anyone other than the user.
Simplicity and ease-of-use is the core design principle of HODL GRS. A simple recovery phrase (which we call a Backup Recovery Key) is all that is needed to restore the user's wallet if they ever lose or replace their device. HODL GRS is deterministic, which means the user's balance and transaction history can be recovered just from the backup recovery key.

ALL NEW! – GroestlcoinSeed Savior

Groestlcoin Seed Savior is a tool for recovering BIP39 seed phrases.
This tool is meant to help users with recovering a slightly incorrect Groestlcoin mnemonic phrase (AKA backup or seed). You can enter an existing BIP39 mnemonic and get derived addresses in various formats.
To find out if one of the suggested addresses is the right one, you can click on the suggested address to check the address' transaction history on a block explorer.

ALL NEW! – Vanity Search Vanity Address Generator

NOTE: NVidia GPU or any CPU only. AMD graphics cards will not work with this address generator.
VanitySearch is a command-line Segwit-capable vanity Groestlcoin address generator. Add unique flair when you tell people to send Groestlcoin. Alternatively, VanitySearch can be used to generate random addresses offline.
If you're tired of the random, cryptic addresses generated by regular groestlcoin clients, then VanitySearch is the right choice for you to create a more personalized address.
VanitySearch is a groestlcoin address prefix finder. If you want to generate safe private keys, use the -s option to enter your passphrase which will be used for generating a base key as for BIP38 standard (VanitySearch.exe -s "My PassPhrase" FXPref). You can also use VanitySearch.exe -ps "My PassPhrase" which will add a crypto secure seed to your passphrase.
VanitySearch may not compute a good grid size for your GPU, so try different values using -g option in order to get the best performances. If you want to use GPUs and CPUs together, you may have best performances by keeping one CPU core for handling GPU(s)/CPU exchanges (use -t option to set the number of CPU threads).

If you're tired of the random, cryptic bech32 addresses generated by regular Groestlcoin clients, then Groestlcoin EasyVanity2020 is the right choice for you to create a more personalised bech32 address. This 2020 version uses the new VanitySearch to generate not only legacy addresses (F prefix) but also Bech32 addresses (grs1 prefix).

ALL NEW! – Electrum Personal Server

Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server aims to make using Electrum Groestlcoin wallet more secure and more private. It makes it easy to connect your Electrum-GRS wallet to your own full node.
It is an implementation of the Electrum-grs server protocol which fulfils the specific need of using the Electrum-grs wallet backed by a full node, but without the heavyweight server backend, for a single user. It allows the user to benefit from all Groestlcoin Core's resource-saving features like pruning, blocks only and disabled txindex. All Electrum-GRS's feature-richness like hardware wallet integration, multi-signature wallets, offline signing, seed recovery phrases, coin control and so on can still be used, but connected only to the user's own full node.
Full node wallets are important in Groestlcoin because they are a big part of what makes the system be trust-less. No longer do people have to trust a financial institution like a bank or PayPal, they can run software on their own computers. If Groestlcoin is digital gold, then a full node wallet is your own personal goldsmith who checks for you that received payments are genuine.
Full node wallets are also important for privacy. Using Electrum-GRS under default configuration requires it to send (hashes of) all your Groestlcoin addresses to some server. That server can then easily spy on your transactions. Full node wallets like Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server would download the entire blockchain and scan it for the user's own addresses, and therefore don't reveal to anyone else which Groestlcoin addresses they are interested in.
Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server can also broadcast transactions through Tor which improves privacy by resisting traffic analysis for broadcasted transactions which can link the IP address of the user to the transaction. If enabled this would happen transparently whenever the user simply clicks "Send" on a transaction in Electrum-grs wallet.
Note: Currently Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server can only accept one connection at a time.

UPDATED – Groestlcoin Sentinel 3.5.06 (Android)

Groestlcoin Sentinel is a great solution for anyone who wants the convenience and utility of a hot wallet for receiving payments directly into their cold storage (or hardware wallets).
Sentinel accepts XPUB's, YPUB'S, ZPUB's and individual Groestlcoin address. Once added you will be able to view balances, view transactions, and (in the case of XPUB's, YPUB's and ZPUB's) deterministically generate addresses for that wallet.
Groestlcoin Sentinel is a fork of Groestlcoin Samourai Wallet with all spending and transaction building code removed.
