Is this job a scam?

EDIT: Since this is so clearly a scam is there any fun suggestions anyone has to mess around with this guy?
I recently got a part-time job offer through my uni (University of Toronto) that seems extremely suspicious. The job details are pasted below:
Hello my name,
Bitcoinshub is a new company based in Dubai. We are into sales and reselling of crypto currencies like bitcoin.Due to our favorable rates we have lots of client in USA and Canada.Taxes and exchange rate has made receiving payments via bank transfer less economical.
We are looking for a payment representative in CANADA who will process the payments on our behave. * You will be paid 10% of each payment you process. * All you need for the job is an active bank account.
HOW IT WORKS
You will receive a check from our clients within Canada, which you will then process by depositing the check in your bank account, when the check clears and you have confirmed that the funds is available you can then withdraw it,deduct your 10% commission from the funds and send the rest of the funds to Bitcoinshub using a bitcoin ATM machine.
This is a perfect part-time job for you as a student,it will not interfere with your current activities and it will only take a few minutes of your time.
To apply for the job, send your resume.
Regards James
When I asked if there are any liabilities or processes on my end to be aware of he sent me this:
Hello,
There are no other liabilities or processes than what i have explained.
In a few days a payment will be mailed to you, which you will then process by depositing the check in your bank account, when the check clears and you have confirmed that the funds is available you can then withdraw it,deduct your 10% commission from the funds and send the rest of the funds to Bitcoinshub using a bitcoin ATM machine.
Please fill the information below.
FULL NAME----- MAILING ADDRESS---- CITY----- PROVINCE----- POST CODE----- PHONE NUMBER----
This seems like a good scam but I also need to money for school, is this a common scam or is it a legit and morally correct (not a scam) way of getting paid? Thanks in advance.

2 days ago Reddit let us know that someone had stolen our Bitcoin sign and placed it somewhere super sketchy. Thank you Reddit! We successfully recovered the sign!

Link to original post.
On September 30th, 2019, it was brought to our attention that our Bitcoin ATM signage was stolen from our 1310 Bloor St West location. Thanks to the dedicated cryptocurrency community in Toronto and Reddit, we were alerted that the sign was potentially being used to advertise a location not affiliated with us.
The location and its appearance were in no way representative of Localcoin’s brand and safety standards. We take the security and safety of our community very seriously, which is why we immediately dispatched our field team to locate and remove the sign.
It has been our goal from the beginning to make cryptocurrency accessible and safe for the communities we serve. We are working closely with the authorities to ensure issues such as these do not arise again.
We are proactively taking steps to make sure that the cryptocurrency community stays a welcoming environment. This is why we will be removing all A-frame signs from our locations across the city. While these signs were a great way to spread awareness of Bitcoin, public safety will and must always come first to us.
We heavily recommend that the public confirm the address of any of our Bitcoin ATM locations prior to heading out to ensure their destination is an official Localcoin ATM.

For reference, here is a list of our official means of communication:
Websites
App
Social Media

We would like to once again thank the cryptocurrency community for informing us of this issue. Questions and concerns can all be forwarded to [email protected] where we actively monitor communications.

A Message to All our U.CASH Users

Dear UCASH users,
As we are sure many of you have noticed, UCASH has been receiving a lot of attention over the past several days. We feel it’s important to clarify some details about the project and update all our users on our current growth plan.
The team is focused on building the UCASH network. We are committed to the long-term project of improving access to financial services worldwide, and we hope you’ll join us.
Background: UCASH is a social-minded peer-to-peer financial services network which uses blockchain technology and a global converter network to seamlessly allow conversion from fiat currencies to cryptocurrencies. The UCASH token powers the network and will enable access to a wide variety of financial services.
U.CASH is the project name and the website address. It stands for Universal Cash. UCASH is the token that powers the U.CASH network.
We invite everyone to find out more about the international team behind UCASH at https://u.cash/about. Ageesen and Brian have been active members of the Canadian blockchain community since circa 2012 including founding SecuraCoin. Antoine, our Blockchain architect, set up one of the first Bitcoin ATMs in the world (Bumblebee exchange) and hosts the largest blockchain developer meetup in Toronto. Our development team in India is led by Arvind. They are hard at work adding new features to the network which will be rolling out soon. The rest of the UCASH team has in-depth understanding of cryptocurrencies and the blockchain space in addition to their individual areas of expertise. Our advisors represent different sectors within financial services and blockchain technologies and many are pioneers in their field.
As of now UCASH is an ERC20 token, however UCASH is bringing something very unique to the blockchain space. U.CASH will integrate other blockchains by creating a pegged number of tokens for each blockchain represented. The total supply of pegged tokens created, across all blockchains, will equal to the token supply created from the IBO via a 1:1 pegging mechanism. .Being blockchain agnostic and inclusive allows the U.CASH ecosystem to be independent of any one blockchain implementation, and also allows all of them to be accessed and used whenever beneficial, or required by its users.
To know more about UCASH, we request all existing and new users to read our white paper, which is available in 12+ languages, and join our telegram channel(s).
Current Status: Our Initial Bounty Offering (IBO) concluded on Jan 8th and all of our users can view their UCASH balance in our web portal (http://portal.u.cash). We already have support of one of the leading multiple-currency wallets (Jaxx) and you can withdraw UCASH to Jaxx or to MyEtherWallet (MEW). UCASH is currently listed on one exchange, with more to come soon.
As of now, the following features have been enabled on our portal: - Verify account - Users can send UCASH to one another via the portal - Users can withdraw UCASH to a wallet or send to an exchange - Store UCASH securely on the platform - Send and receive Bitcoin - Walk into a Converter retail location and carry out basic services of the platform including verification. (Currently available in Toronto, Canada, with more locations to come.)
We will enable/improve the following services in the near future:
We recently had the option of users completing different bounties (Eg: Whitepaper translation) and have disabled the bounties section at the moment. We will soon be enabling a number of bounties. - Listing on more exchanges and support on different wallets. - Conversion of Bitcoin to UCASH and vice-versa - Faster withdrawals to personal wallets - Signing up additional storefront converter locations and individual converters in North America, Vietnam, and India, in compliance with local laws. - We are ramping up our team in India and Canada and we will publish available opportunities. - Onboarding new users by targeting different user communities and geographic regions. - Revamp of the UI/UX of the UCASH Portal. A detailed history of UCASH and future growth plan is available at: https://u.cash/growthplan (We will be updating this soon as well as on an ongoing basis).
UCASH has been one of the most widely distributed blockchain tokens with more than 200,000 user signups. We take pride in the fact that majority of our users are new to blockchain and UCASH is first token that they are holding. Due to our innovative bounty program, they didn't have to spend bitcoin or ether to receive UCASH.
We acknowledge that currently, wallet withdrawals are taking longer than we (and users!) would like. The current system is backlogged by both the massive influx of legitimate users as well as people attempting to exploit the bounty system. We are committed to securing the UCASH network and protecting our community. Unfortunately, these bad actors have caused delays for everyone. We are hiring additional support personnel and will further automate the withdrawal process, which will continue to decrease wait times.
Recent Events: Now, let's talk about the unexpected price fluctuations in the UCASH token. We at U.CASH will continue to focus on building a high quality technology product, signing up new partnerships, and onboarding new users as well as improving on customer support. Price movements of tokens, as many of you who are experienced in the crypto space are aware, are influenced by a wide variety of factors. We have had a massive surge in interest from around the world and no doubt that has contributed to some of these movements.
However, we take this unexpected global interest positively and are trying our best to reply to each user request individually. Our global rank on the top web-ranking platforms is at an all-time high with SimilarWeb ranking us at 48,842 and Alexa ranking us at 61,839! The greatest interest for UCASH is from Vietnam, India, Russia and Indonesia.
As stated, we will continue to focus our efforts on the long term. U.CASH is here to stay.
Today has been just another Monday in UCASH office, except for the exponential increase in requests on social media, influx of new users, and inquiries from press.
We would like to thank all of our users and benefactors, whether they have been with us for months or only days. You have shown tremendous patience, interest, and passion. We would also request anyone trying to spread FUD to read the white paper, signup, check out the platform, follow us on social media, and ask questions on telegram.
This is just the beginning of our ambitious plans to empower our users and enable access to vital financial services around the world. Thanks again to all our supporters!

Canadian Authorities Seek Help Identifying Bitcoin ATM Double-Spenders

Canadian Authorities Seek Help Identifying Bitcoin ATM Double-Spenders

Canadian Authorities Seek Help Identifying Bitcoin ATM Double-Spenders

Authorities in Canada are reportedly looking for help identifying four suspects of conducting double-spend attacks on Bitcoin ATMs throughout the country, potentially taking advantage of these accepting 0-confirmation transactions.
https://preview.redd.it/kn20c73iexl21.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bc9db32b5bcbe901ffe6000e621b3f86bb1eaf50
According to the CBC, the four suspects managed to make over CAD $200,000 ($150,000) through the attacks, in which they managed to conduct 112 fraudulent transactions in seven cities in Canada, half of which in Calgary.
The attacks were carried out for 10 days in September of last year. Besides Calgary, the suspects also conducted double-spend attacks on Bitcoin ATMs in cities like Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg, Ottawa, and more.
Authorities believe the individuals have n-depth knowledge or interest in cryptocurrency, bitcoin and/or blockchain technology." They seemingly managed to steal the funds by taking advantage of the Bitcoin ATMs accepting 0-confirmation transactions.
CCN points out that replace-by-fee tools developed by Canadian Bitcoin Core developer Peter Todd could have been used in the attack. The tools themselves weren’t created for such activities, but allow for “stuck” transaction to go through using additional fees.
There is, however, a “double-spend” tool. That creates two transactions in succession, one paying a specific amount to a specific address, and a second one double-spending that transaction.

Bitcoin NOOB. Is this how Local ATMs are supposed to be or did I get ripped off?

I am a Canadian living in the gooseland and I just heard about this new bitcoin ATM at a cornershop (Hasty Market, Downtown Toronto) and I decided to check it out.
The ATM display screen at the time showed 1BTC = 25k CAD.
So whatev, I put in a $20 and showed my wallet address on my phone and I got 0.000193 BTC, and it says the rate was 1 BTC = 103626.943005 CAD. 100k+!!
Is this how bitcoin ATMS work? or did I get ripped off?

Please ask your local cryptocurrency ATM provider to support Ether

With bitcoin transaction fees over $2 and confirmation times in the hours, it's extremely inconvenient having to go through bitcoin to convert between ether and national currencies.
You can help address this problem by sending off a quick email, or better yet, making a quick call to your local ATM provider.
All relevant data can be collected from:
https://coinatmradar.com/ (note if you unselect all of the other cryptos and leave only ether, you'll see that there is only about a dozen places worldwide that can exchange fiat for ether, compared to well over a thousand for bitcoin. we can do better)
For my geographical area, here are the ATM providers:
company geographical area email address phone number website
Netcoins Vancouver, Kelowna, Toronto, Nigeria [email protected] (844)-515-COIN https://www.gonetcoins.com/
Bitcoiniacs Vancouver, Calgary, Manila [email protected] 1 (604) 727-0170 (SMS only) http://www.bitcoiniacs.com
ezBtc Vancouver [email protected] 1-877-755-2249 http://www.ezbtc.ca/
Bitnational Vancouver, Kelowna, Vernon, Calgary, Edmonton [email protected] (888) 928-9282 http://www.bitnational.com/
If you go to the website, you can easily find the providers operating in your area as well.

Hello Canadian Bitcoiners, we are Bitconnect and would like to ask you to Speak Up to Canada about Bitcoin :)

Hello everyone, we are a start-up company and are trying to provide everyone with a connection to get the benefits of using bitcoin and the blockchain network.
We are bringing in a ATM-like Kiosk for everyone in Toronto to get a hands on bitcoin. We are also in contact with dozens of local merchants who are accepting bitcoin and have put them on our Shopconnect and are currently in the process of getting more merchants into accepting this new currency.
Check it out and please feel free to provide us some quick feedback and it is always appreciated as we are always looking forward for improvement.
We would also like to use this moment to help inform the Canadian Bitcoiners with this petition on our blog mentioned during the 2014 federal budget statement,
It is important to continually improve Canada’s regime to address emerging risks, including virtual currencies, such as Bitcoin, that threaten Canada’s international leadership in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing
"The awesome people over at Bitcoin Winnipeg started a petition with regards to regulations finance minister Jim Flaherty What does this mean?
The government plans to provide FINTRAC with up to $10.5 million over five years, according to budget documents, and then up to $2.2 million annually in the years following. As well, the government announced its intention to provide FINTRAC with up to $12 million in additional funding, which will be distributed on an “as needed” basis over a five-year period, to help FINTRAC improve its analytics system
What is the purpose of the petition?
[To] favour a progressive and moderate stance toward digital currencies such as Bitcoin in Canada.
To read more about the petition and the petition itself, head over to Bitcoin Winnipeg’s Speak Up page."
Read The Petition
The Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance
Dear Minister Flaherty,
I am writing to you today to let you know that I strongly favour a progressive and moderate stance toward digital currencies such as Bitcoin in Canada. It is my hope to compel you to look deeper into the matter and consider the high opportunity cost of burdensome or restrictive regulations surrounding digital currencies.
I was troubled by the recent revelation of an internal FINTRAC document on the subject of Bitcoin, and by the language used within the document. The knowledge that FINTRAC is considering options that would "choke bitcoins oxygen supply (sic)" by denying Canadians access to the foreign-exchange market, or further options to "(force) exchange houses underground" in an effort to devalue the currency are upsetting to me both as a Canadian and as an ardent believer in the tremendous innovative potential that digital crypto-currencies have to offer.
I understand and appreciate the government's need to prevent criminal activity however it may be perpetrated, however I believe, much like the Internet, Bitcoin and similar technologies offer far greater benefit and opportunity to our nation, and to the world, than it does harm or risk. I would like to respectfully remind you that similar concerns were raised about the Internet in its early days, and had our government of the day taken an overly aggressive approach to regulating the Internet, it is clear today that we would have suffered immensely for it.
I believe it is important to understand that the invention of crypto-currencies cannot be undone, and there is no question that it will lead to substantial innovation as entirely new industries are born. The question that remains today is what part Canada will have in the global ecosystem of crypto-currencies. I ask you, Minister Flaherty, to consider that a burdensome approach to regulations surrounding digital currencies such as is discussed in the FINTRAC internal document will not stifle Bitcoin innovation and development, but can certainly be successful in pushing that innovation outside the borders of Canada.
Over the next several years it is clear already that literally hundreds of thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in capital will be directed at developing new and innovative uses of this emerging technology. I sincerely hope that the Government of Canada will embrace this opportunity and allow the organic growth of these new industries within our borders.
I thank you for your time and consideration on this important and timely matter.

4/22/14 Video News - Bitcoin Political Donations, CoinKite Mini ATMs, MEVU Bracelet & A Bitcoin Gas Pump

Video: http://www.moneyandtech.com/apr22-news-update/
Catch up with today's top news in Money & Tech:
The FEC is hold a hearing to consider a request from non-partisan political action committee Make Your Laws, which has asked for clarity around political donations with bitcoin. The FEC has already drafted two possible responses. One would limit bitcoin donations and prohibit any expenditures in the digital currency, and the other would limit neither. The FEC's final decision is expected by May 5th.
The Libertarian Party's 2016 Presidential candidate Darryl W. Perry has announced that he is now accepting campaign contributions solely in bitcoin, litecoin, gold, silver and copper. This comes as no surprise given his party and campaign platform to abolish legal tender laws, repeal the monopoly granted to the federal reserve and allow for competing currencies to be circulated. Perry joins a short but growing list of politicians now accepting bitcoin for campaign donations, including Congressman Steve Stockman and Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott.
Canada-based CoinKite announced Monday that consumers can now begin buying and selling bitcoin and litecoin with CoinKite terminals, which were launched last Fall to help merchants easily accept bitcoin payments from customers. The terminals now have both a retail and an exchange mode, the latter allowing it to operate like a mini ATM. In-person exchange methods like these terminals could be the key to furthering adoption of digital currencies.
With demand for transparency in bitcoin company operations growing rapidly, Bitcoin exchange Vault of Satoshi today announced the first ever full public proof-of-solvency service for its customers, which it says is “not just an audit” but can provide full cryptographic proof that it holds all the bitcoins it claims to have in reserve. Now registered users can self-validate both their balance and the exchange's overall reserves by selecting ‘BTC Proof of Solvency’ in the company’s online Security Center.
Wearable technology startup MEVU has created a prototype for the first wearable bitcoin wallet, that lets users make payments and with just a flick of the wrist. The MEVU bracelet registers the wearer's movements to confirm small transactions with a nearby point-of-sale device using Bluetooth Low Energy and Coinbase's wallet API. Current point-of-sale technology is based on iOS, which has been notoriously anti-bitcoin wallet, so the MEVU team is hard at work developing a version for Android as well. The MEVU bracelet will be available for pre-order within a month.
Thermo dynamics researcher and Bitcoin enthusiast Andy Schroder has just created the world’s first commercial-ready Bitcoin fuel pump. The pump features a digital display with the current market-rate for fuel, as well as a wallet address and QR code where users can deposit bitcoin. Schroder has several more improvements planned, including Biodiesel compatibility and built-in Wi-Fi access. But he feels this version is ready for testing, and is “one step towards anchoring the purchasing power of Bitcoin to a range of physical commodities that are consumed by society regularly.”
The hackathon grand prize at the recent Toronto Bitcoin Expo was awarded to the team behind DarkMarket, an innovative peer-to-peer market that can be joined by anyone, complete with identity and reputation rankings, multi-sig escrow, and privacy features. The developers were very clear that this decentralized peer-to-peer marketplace is not intended as a black market for illicit goods, but rather as a free market where the state cannot “see and thereby control trade, but applies equally to trade over which the state asserts no control.”
