Problems checking wallet, bitcoin core on another server

So my setup is that currently Bitcoin core is running on a Windows server, and joinmarket is a fresh install on debian. Bitcoin core is a full node, no pruning, fully synced. I had some problems opening up RPC but I think that part works now (no longer getting timeouts).
But instead this happens:

Noob friendly guide on how to verify the message about Craig Wright.

Noob friendly guide on how to verify the message about Craig Wright.

https://preview.redd.it/wxw5k0z7t1151.png?width=1288&format=png&auto=webp&s=b564a9cfdaa85e33cbb642d70396957714a10a71
Instructions
Step 1: Go to https://reinproject.org/bitcoin-signature-tool/ (click Bitcoin QT)
Step 2: Go to https://paste.debian.net/1148565
Step 3: Copy the message without quotes
Step 4: Copy wallet address and digital signature (there are 144 pairs to choose from)
Step 5: Go to https://www.blockchain.com/explorer
Step 6: Copy the wallet address and click enter to see when the first transaction was made with that wallet (all from early days of Bitcoin)

What does this prove?
  • It proves someone else has private keys (passwords) for wallets Craig Wright claims to have access to in the court case (Craig may not even have access himself, although he claims he does). This means he either lied in court (purjury) or need to provide evidence he actually has access to these wallets too.
  • This proves someone involved in the early days of Bitcoin (mathematically verifiable) thinks Craig Wright is not Satoshi.
  • This does not mean Satoshi signed this message (it could be though). It does not matter anyway, we are all Satoshi.
Note: DO NOT COPY YOUR OWN PRIVATE KEY ONTO ANY OF THESE WEBSITES.

Progress so far and Decisions decisions

Hello everyone! I've been taking some steps to degoogle and look after my privacy. My main browser now is Firefox (Chrome and Opera GX previously) with add-ons and tweaks (from privacytools.io). I have installed my favorite Linux distro Parrot OS (chose home edition for daily driver) and am currently using both of protons services. I plan on self hosting SearX and Bitwarden instances along with running a full Bitcoin node and tor relay. I plan in the future to flash my pixel device with Graphene OS and use Fdroid apps only (besides signal).
My question is, should I install steam/proton on my Debian system or just keep all the games on my windows 10 drive?
Also any tips on physical security (anti face and gait tracking) or other privacy tips?
Thanks!

New Qubes OS Room on Matrix!

New Qubes OS Room on matrix!

This is just to let potentially interested people know that there is now a new Qubes OS room on matrix which is part of the +cybersec:matrix.org community. The rules for this group are simple, have a (qubes-ish) question, ask a (qubes-ish) question or take it to #cybersec-offtopic. In general the main rule is don't be a D*ck (not duck in case you were wondering, ducks are fine).

Some reasons/examples of why Qubes might be of interest:

And many more reasons. The room welcomes all, if you are a noob come ask a question, if you are a guru (not even necessarily with Qubes but maybe distro or application specific) please come and help add to the knowledge base! One of the main goals here is to have flexible and civil support/discussions related to Qubes.

Hope to see you all there!
PS Apologies to the mods if you do not consider this appropriate, I reviewed the rules and think its ok? My reasons for cross posting is that I think Qubes has a very real use case for this subreddit so I thought it would be useful for users in these subreddits and hopefully helpful for Qubes users as well.

How can a TKEY messenger allow you to send funds anywhere in the world without commissions and in a matter of seconds?

How can a TKEY messenger allow you to send funds anywhere in the world without commissions and in a matter of seconds?

https://preview.redd.it/fnny8lcxse651.png?width=700&format=png&auto=webp&s=cbed2ff5216eb1dc813764d99f5b12dda17a37ab
Yesterday was the official release of the new flagship product — Tkey Messenger. Messenger is available in the browser and on desktops for the most popular systems Windows, macOS, and Linux. Soon, smartphone owners will be able to try out Tkey Messenger in action, the app will appear in the App Store and Google Play.
https://preview.redd.it/f4ca4g0nue651.png?width=1400&format=png&auto=webp&s=c857c896bf71771e3d01e0210f24da9a4fb68887
In the era of rapid communication and technology development, messengers have become our default products. We use them for business purposes, to communicate with friends and acquaintances — this has long been the norm. It would seem that why are other messengers created when there are many other instant messaging systems?
Today we will talk about what a Tkey Messenger is, what it can do today, what features will be included in it in the future, and most importantly, what we are creating It for and how we will develop it.

TKEY.ME

The abbreviated name of Tkey Messenger is tkey.me. First of all, TKEY-ME is a secure messenger with p2p audio and video calls, and in the future, a built-in digital wallet.
“Every day we communicate in messengers. We earn money at work. We make purchases and transfers. We are here to combine these processes in one application and make sending funds as easy as sending a message”

The Tkey Messenger as a new ecosystem

Do you think we are here to compete with other messengers? — No, there are a lot of great messengers. We are here to create our ecosystem and the internal market in it. Combine these processes in one application and make sending funds as easy as sending a message.
After all, we work in the field of FINTECH, cryptography, and blockchain, why not apply the best practices and knowledge in practice? Therefore, the TKEY Messenger should be considered for a large ecosystem.
This is a new payment segment that covers fast communication tools in combination with an internal payment system, a set of exchange practices, blockchain, cryptography, our own experience, and the experience of global companies.

How will the Tkey Messenger ecosystem work?

https://preview.redd.it/17bml1zpue651.png?width=1400&format=png&auto=webp&s=99ebd70745968452536546fb5a59841e8f3a9c52
Let’s start with the most important thing: money should be sent in a matter of seconds, regardless of the country of issue of the Bankcard and wherever you are.

Here is a simple example:

You or your relatives live abroad and you want to send funds quickly, for example, 2600 USD — you just open a chat with your loved one, send a message and 2600 USD in the same second become available on your loved one’s account.
https://preview.redd.it/nmz4ienrue651.png?width=697&format=png&auto=webp&s=c3902fc0df1ed2eba425c3f3db3eb8c40bc7a237
It turns out that you can exchange Tkeycoin for USD, EUR, or GBP in a matter of seconds, as well as instantly send them to any place in the world and without hidden fees, the exchange amount is immediately available on the screen.
Or you have Bitcoin, and the Recipient needs dollars — Tkey Messenger will take care of all the complex tasks, you will only need to send a message to make the payment.
Each completed payment will be processed through a digital payment system without Bank intervention. You can link your Bank card to automatically withdraw digital funds to your local currency.

Do you want to simplify payments even more?

Order a TKEY card, and it will automatically be linked to your Tkey Messenger account. Make payments online, make purchases in stores — it’s just as easy as you did before, only much more convenient, faster, and safer.
https://preview.redd.it/42f1dkktue651.png?width=1400&format=png&auto=webp&s=7305192230c379c0fe81d981208a8cef8a540a5c
The most important thing is that you can easily use digital assets in combination with Fiat currencies — just top up your account in messenger to start sending currency around the world.
“Moving money around the world should be as easy and cheap as sending a message. It doesn’t matter where you live, what you do, or how much you earn.”

Send TKEY or Bitcoin via message, has it become a reality?

In Tkey Messenger, you will be able to quickly send digital currency using a message. You can not specify a public address, but send a digital currency using a message.
Instantly send funds to friends or relatives anywhere in the world. No Bank, no problems, no hidden fees.

Top up your mobile phone or pay for the Internet?

The usual payments, such as the Internet or mobile payments, will certainly be available, because if we can transfer pounds from England to Canada in a matter of seconds, and the recipient will receive dollars, why can’t we make a payment for the Internet? “Of course you can.

Transfer funds by a nickname

You don’t need to know the recipient’s account, just send funds by their nickname to the Tkey Messenger, and the funds will arrive within a few seconds. Fast, convenient, and safe.

What do we get in the future when using a Tkey Messenger?

We get an ideal payment system with instant transactions, fast access to various currencies, including digital, instant international payments, a huge platform for business, a marketplace with trusted sellers, secure transactions, while fast communication, p2p calls, and video communication. Not to mention various chips, in the format: cashback, savings account, invest. products, etc.
  • International transfers without Commission and in seconds;
  • Instant account opening — just create an account to get access to payments;
  • Access to funds 24/7/365 wherever you are.
  • Multi-currency wallet — you can use both digital currencies and classic currencies, such as the pound, euro, and dollar.
  • Payment in digital currency anywhere in the world.
  • Save time and money.

How is this possible, you say?

More than real, we will answer. At the very beginning of the project, we planned to create a marketplace, and then finalized the concept with NFC payments in TkeyPay. Smoothly, all this develops into a single system, which will be merged into a Tkey Messenger.
The Tkey Messenger is convenient and secure, payment system, and marketplace. The entire financial industry is in your hands-in your smartphone.
https://preview.redd.it/ullvuelexe651.png?width=1001&format=png&auto=webp&s=ef883fa9de067b885138a231069ddc3c0414c7d3
The mobile Finance industry is developing rapidly against the backdrop of a growing number of Internet users and the increasing role of smartphones in modern life. Today, the mobile device market attracts about 2 billion people, who remain passive players in financial markets.
With the Tkey Messenger access, you always get access to instant Finance, shopping, and the nice things you want to get here and now. In practice, it has turned out that we can often forget the keys to the apartment, rather than the phone, so your finances will always be with you.

Join the global Tkey Messenger system right now

Release 1.0.0 is available in the web version and for Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems, and shortly on your mobile devices.

Current functionality of Tkey Messenger 1.0.0

The Tkey Messenger version 1.0.0 is the core that opens up new features that we discussed above, payments, and more. Now it is a convenient and stylish messenger with an intuitive design, instant messaging, and secure audio and video communication.

The P2P audio and video calls in a Tkey Messenger

When creating the first version, we focused on high-quality video and audio communication. Now you can easily call by video and be sure that you will get a high-quality video stream, as well as the absence of restrictions from third parties because the connection is carried out on the principle of p2p.
Audio and video calls are made in p2p mode, so there is no recording of calls at all.
https://preview.redd.it/lyrnkfhgxe651.png?width=1384&format=png&auto=webp&s=fb0c93ca45fa6bd4f65c77f64c81b88b906e904a
You can chat with friends and colleagues around the world for free, and excellent audio and video quality will only positively affect the quality of your conversation.

Calls in the web version

The web version of Tkey Messenger is available at → http://web.tkey.me/. The web version has full call functionality, so you can easily call through it, both via video and audio.
Video calls are available with the “Share” function, you can easily “share” your screen for the interlocutor and show what is happening on it. This function can be used for presentations or training events.
Screen Sharing is a demonstration and broadcast of the screen. “Share” your screen for the interlocutor and show what is happening on it.
https://preview.redd.it/x5h6au9ixe651.png?width=459&format=png&auto=webp&s=9b71b9148b17b55636c5615cbf7d6535cc78aa56

Group video and audio calls for up to 50 people

In the web version, you can launch a group video call. In the chat, tap the “handset” icon — the call will be sent to all participants in the chat, so all participants in the group chat can hold a video conference of up to 50 people. The user can turn on the camera and not turn it on, but simply participate in a video conference via audio.
On average, messengers that support the function of video calls in high quality, hold a video stream of no more than 8–10 people. In a Tkey Messenger, group conferences support up to 50 people. Soon-public online broadcasts and streams.
On the call page, you can conveniently distribute the Windows of the connected video stream.
https://preview.redd.it/qf85k37kxe651.png?width=744&format=png&auto=webp&s=8074a48fca7ea492376460d5c15f1de27722f7ea

Unlimited private group chats

The first version only supports private chats and group chats. Group chats are also completely private, so there is no “Share” function, only the chat participant can invite another participant to the group chat.
Create your thematic chats. Work. Family. Friends. Be the first while we develop. Soon-public channels and chats.
Anyone can start an audio or video call, and the notification goes through all participants. Switching to audio or video mode can be switched right at the moment of the call.
As we have already mentioned, group chats are completely private. You can make video and audio calls, send messages, and invite other participants.
To invite a new chat participant, any user can invite another user to a group chat. To do this, click on the “three points” menu icon.

https://preview.redd.it/cyfuh6snxe651.png?width=428&format=png&auto=webp&s=ee38ed7f20fed0bcb576279a6701397cd777e913
Next, enter the nickname of the participant you want to invite to the group chat in the search.

https://preview.redd.it/v7pltoppxe651.png?width=367&format=png&auto=webp&s=71d71bb795b312b4607d2033eee4c3a29f3b7500

Deleting information in group chats

Each participant, when they click the “Exit and delete” button, deletes messages and information from the chat on their side.
In group chats, all information is deleted by the last person to leave the group chat. After deleting-all messages, media, photos, and other data that were in this chat are automatically deleted. If all participants leave the group chat, it will be automatically deleted, and all information published in the group chat will also be deleted.

The chat between the two parties

This is a classic private chat between two participants, instant messaging, sending media.
The rights of the participants are equal. Any chat participant can delete the entire chat. after deleting all messages, media, photos, and other data that was in this chat, it is automatically deleted.

Stellar The Biggest Cryptocurrency since Bitcoin? 1 year later!

Special consideration and appreciation to 87Crypto for all the research and investment into most of this article, this flashback was and is very much on point perfectly.

My input and addition I believe will be the future of Stellar Lumens (XLM) and I don't think the bears can stop it.. With the works economy crashed because of the pandemic, countries are looking at making precious metal backed Cryptocurrencies.... Major banks are rushing to make the technology improvements to accommodate this change, and it is happening very rapidly..

To the world from REDDIT user 87Crypto:

Stellar The Biggest Cryptocurrency since Bitcoin?
Ok everyone, feel free to tell me I'm crazy and delusional on my idea of Stellar being the biggest Cryptocurrency since Bitcoin.

In 2014, Nasdaq launched a separate company, Nasdaq private market which partnered with a San Francisco based Blockchain startup company called Chain to test Bitcoin technology. Part of this testing included digital transfers of money and other assets securely and nearly instantaneously which is something the current system is incapable of doing so seamlessly. Additional features included the transfer of securities directly between asset managers, to serve as a secure ledger for tracking assets across divisions of a large organization, enable a next-generation mobile banking solution, create a loyalty points system for a consortium of brandsto issue digital gift cards onto a network that can support multiple wallet vendors, create automated insurance contracts, and issue central bank currencies digitally to improve the payments system in any country. In October 15th, 2017 IBM chose the Stellar Blockchain to power the process of cross-border payments. This partnership was to significantly reduce transaction costs and increase transaction speeds whilst eliminating the inefficiencies and frustrations of the current cross-border payments system. January of 2018, Former Chain president, and Goldman Sachs Managing Director of technology and Business Development became the Head of Corporate Business Development for the Newly launched digital arm of Fidelity. Now this is getting more and more obvious as to what is going on. The same group of people are involved in all these financial institutions. On September 4th, 2018 IBM Debuted Blockchain World Wire (BWW). This platform was created to not only improve the cross-border payment system but to revolutionize the entire financial system. This ecosystem allows assets to be freely transported to any region of the world without the necessity to exchange currencies prior to doing so. Blockchain world wire utilizes the Stellar native token, the Lumen, as a form of exchange, as well as gas for low transaction fees. One of the brilliant aspects of BWW is the fact that the Lumen can be converted to as many as sixty currencies and according to Jed McCaleb even stocks can be transferred within the ecosystem. These currencies vary from the current fiat system, to cryptocurrency, 1:1-dollar ratio Stable coins and central bank digital cryptocurrencies. Just six days later, on September 10, Blockchain Start up and Nasdaq partner merges with Steller’s start up named Lightyear. This merger formed Interstellar to bring Chain's enterprise products of digital asset transfers, seamless tracking of these assets, as well as their customer base to the Stellar blockchain. On the other side of the IBM / Stellar partnership, IBM was working closely with The Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum (OMFIF) on central bank cryptocurrencies. The OMFIF is an independent think tank for central banking, economic policy, and public investment with a collective of investable assets equating to $36 trillion dollars which is equivalent to 45% of the worlds GDP. I don’t know about you but that gave me goosebumps. The magnitude of the Stellar blockchain is just unreal. We are talking about Stellar having the potential to take over not just the cross-border payments market but will also play a massive role in asset tokenization which would revolutionize Wall St. Itself. On October 13th, 2018 Stellar partnered with SEC approved Security token exchange platform Hyperion. This exchange is the first platform in north American for security tokens. This provides investors the ability to exchange digital security tokens using blockchain technology with significantly lower fees as well as more efficiently than the traditional stock market. In addition to that, Hyperion signed an MOU with Kinesis Money, a company offering a unique system solely on digital gold and silver currencies. This unique form of tokenizing gold and silver as a 1:1 allocation to those assets as a stable coin is just further proof that everything will be tokenized on the blockchain. Ok, there’s a few more things to discuss. This is what institutions are calling open banking. Open banking is a system where banks can use the open source Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to allow 3rd party developers applications around financial institutions. A partner of IBM that is leading the way of open banking is HSBC. Due to this strong relationship it is very likely they will use the Stellar Blockchain to issue digital assets. Speaking of partnerships and 3rd party developers, let's discuss yet another huge part of the puzzle that is Stellar.

On October 28th, 2018 the largest bank of the United states J.P Morgan financed a $34 billion-dollar loan to IBM for the acquisition of the world’s largest hybrid cloud provider, Red Hat. This purchase was purposely executed to become the #1 hybrid cloud provider in the world. Red hat fits the perfect description of the 3rd party required for HSBC to implement its Open banking and eventual issuance of digital currencies through the Stellar Blockchain. In case you were wondering why I made a point to mention J.P Morgan and their massive loan to IBM when I could have simply left them out, we'll circle back because it is important. On December 4th, 2018 we closed out the year with Fidelity and Nasdaq Ventures investing in cryptocurrency exchange Eris X. As Previously mentioned, Former president of blockchain start up Chain, Tom Jessup relocated to Fidelity which is a partner of Nasdaq in this cryptocurrency exchange Eris X. Tom Jessup was president of Chain during the time they partnered with Nasdaq. What I am pointing out is that all these top institutional companies are working together one way or another and it is clear as day something massive will be announced March 19th as I mentioned before. As we look back at all the moving parts, I can’t help but think that IBM and Stellar will revolutionize the stock market itself through all their partnerships directly or indirectly, more importantly due to Blockchain World Wire and its capabilities. This is truly incredible. But that's still not all just yet. J.P Morgan financing the $34 billion dollars to IBM was strategic. Well, what do you know, On February 14th of this very year, J.P Morgan launched their own US bank-backed cryptocurrency coin and as Jesse Lund, head of IBM Blockchain previously mentioned, Blockchain World Wire would allow up to 60 world currencies and even stable coins which is exactly why J. P. Morgan created their coin. All of this has led us to the Singapore Money 20/20 event of March 19th, 2019. All the pieces of the puzzle seem to be in place and I honestly can not find evidence to prove anything otherwise. Stellar has all the qualifications, attributes and partnerships to not only be one of the biggest cryptocurrencies in the world but to become the Blockchain of the financial world. Please give me your thoughts.
From: 87Crypto May, 2019

Now 1 year later :Everything is in place, all currencies are at an all time low because of the worldwide pandemic last month...
It is time, time to grow this machine!

We need a Stellar Lumens based "ATM" program that runs on Debian. Something that can be dropped into almost all "ATM" platforms. This would give instant international bank transactions from any bank to any bank. It could use Stripe or BWW directly, because of the existing Stellar Commitments, and Charge it's own processing fees set by the ATM provider.

Let's get this marketed to every ATM provider there is and push the market, this is the environment for bank integrations and will reduce ATM fees to the end user.. Even at $1 per average transaction that is an average savings of $1.50 per transaction from an average ATM... Banks will pay attention, then every user will see the message "Your transaction was proudly transferred to you with the Stellar Lumens (XLM) network, in coordination with BWW or Stripe, and" insert ATM COMPANY NAME "....This same environment would be used as the backbone of the merchant P.O.S. machines for credit card and debt transactions.
Thank you for reading..

The most cryptocurrency ever lost, was not from investments it was from inoperable or unrecoverable wallets. Stay safe my friends.

Help! Using BTC to Exchange CAD-USD as Bitcoin Noob, Safely, and Without Large Fees. Fianceé Stuck in Venezuela With No Options

Hope this is the right subreddit for this, Title says it all, anyone willing to help me figure out which options there are for doing this is hugely appreciated!!! Am in a complex situation and extremely concerned for my Venezuelan fiancée whom I met at University but had to return to home country recently and is now stuck. As borders close from COVID-19, political tensions rise, along with hyperinflation, it looks like I will have to be exchanging currrency often. Banks and direct transfer aren't really an option, fees are massive (>=5%) if it is even a possibility, PayPal is similar and I am morally against using these institutions.
As someone with little experience, and only a theoretical knowledge of crypto currency, I wouldn't know how to start. I am hugely interested in using decentralized currency along with the Freedom from financial institutions getting away with whatever they want. I really would greatly appreciate learning what options exist that are safe and allow me to have control over my own Bitcoin wallet where I am not putting myself at a huge privacy or scam risk, as I know there are so many shady exchanges out there. I have a powerful PC,(i7 9700k, RTX 2080ti, 32GB DDR4, 1TB M.2 SSD, 6TB HDD) running Windows 10, and just installed Debian. Also have rooted OnePlus 7 Pro running Android Q beta. Thanks for reading and any knowledge shared in advance!

  • Headless (No need for extra monitor, keyboard, etc) and connect via Ethernet or WiFi**
Background:
I've been making nodes for other coins for a few years to learn about some crypto basics. It got a bit of interest for I have a site https://PiNode.co.uk but recently far more advanced projects have come on the scene (such as RaspiBlitz for Bitcoin) which was so far superior there was no sense pursuing it . However there are benefits for Monero users running their own node and we didn't have that quality of plug and play node. So I've been giving it a go and this is the result.
The Future of PiNode-XMR:
First of all project needs feedback to continue, I don't know what to develop and introduce unless people say what they don't like, do like or want.
Second, it'd be great if anyone else in the Monero community would like to get involved, we have a great group and I'm sure there is an aspect of this project someone takes an interest in. Please get in touch. Like if there are any budding website designers in our midst the UI is the last module of this project that isn't open source, it's from a template and I've put it together best I can but...throwing that out there :) I'd be nice if the monero community could completely own this project, completely open source.
Finally, I know that now there is more choice on the single board computer market and although the Raspberry Pi is popular it may not be the best hardware choice. So the next plan is to rather than make disk images that are hardware specific, to instead make scripts that are based on an OS ( probably Debian ). This way this project can be built by anyone using a single command onto Pine64, Odroid, Bananapi or any old laptop/pc with Debian for thier full node.
Thanks for taking an interest and readingDan
The "Advanced Settings" page from the UI for a bit of colour after all that text:

Edit: Added download link to this page too. Corrected image layout.
Edit2: Added hash of image. And note it's also possible to flash the image directly onto a USB drive with a program like Rufus and not insert a MicroSD at all. You'll need to then manually expand that partition to the size of the drive, but may be useful to know.

Please recommend me a Seedbox

Hello. I'm seeking seedbox recommendations to help bootstrap the swarm on BioTorrents.de, a torrent tracker for biological sequence and medical imaging data. Thanks for any advice you can provide.
Are you OK with direct message offers from vendors?
Yes, but only to discuss tax-deductible donations of server time on behalf of BosLab, the 501c3 community biology lab where BioTorrents.de originated.
What are your main reasons for getting a seedbox?
I'm in the process of launching a semi-private science tracker for genomic and medical data, and would like to seed as much content on as fast connection as I can afford. I'm currently seeding from two residential locations.
Do you have any specific requirements?
I'm seeking a 1 Gbps uplink with as much storage and monthly transfer capacity as can be had for about $20 per month. The storage cap is the limiting factor right now, not the transfer cap.
Are you looking for a shared or dedicated solution?
Dedicated is preferred, but shared is okay if it helps meet the requirements above.
Are you looking for managed or unmanaged solution?
Unmanaged
Please describe your Seedbox experience:
My current setup is a Transmission instance seeding about 5,000 torrents from a home server on a residential connection, that I access and manage remotely behind a SOCKSv5 proxy. I would set up an rTorrent/ruTorrent instance on the seedbox in a similar way (Nginx reverse proxy to daemon listening on localhost).
Currently with a provider or used one before?
No
What is your Linux experience?
Professional development and systems administration for a sizeable public-sector organization.
What is your monthly budget?
$20
Payment preferences or requirements?
PayPal or debit preferred, Bitcoin not preferred.
Do you need support for public trackers?
The BioTorrents.de content distribution model is novel as far as I know: an authenticated private swarm on Tier 1, with three public backups on Tier 2 and forthcoming support for FTP/HTTP seeds.
Routing: Tell us your continent:
I'm currently seeding about 1–2 Mbps from North America and would prefer a European location.
What kind of connection speeds do you need?
At least 150 Mbps guaranteed with 1 Gbps burst available.
How much monthly bandwidth is needed?
2 TB is a reasonable limit because the data is rather niche.
How much disk space do you need?
4 TB is a good minimum, as I've allocated that much space on my home server.
List some features you are looking for:
The ability to install custom ISO images would be nice, for example to use OpenBSD-current, but it's not a strict requirement. I'll make do with whatever Linux images the service offers, preferring Debian.
Anything else you think we should know?
Thanks for helping me out!

What if Bitkey but for Monero

I just learned about bitkey, and boy am I impressed. Like my actual point is that I think a critical fatal flaw in the crypto economy and bitcoin network is the reliance on centralized hardware manfufactures whose proprietary closed garden systems and also of course centralized exchanges. I think it's just a matter of time before Trezor and LedgerNano become targets, or some rouge intelligence agent releases to the darknet some tool to crack them or compromise them.
BitKey is a bootable system image based on Debian containing everything you need to perform highly secure air-gapped Bitcoin transactions. You don't need to install it to a hard drive because it runs live from RAM. You just write the ISO image to a USB drive or burn it to CDROM.
I'm a die hard open source linux open system advocate, and I think that bitkey is the right step in the right direction. And my point being, anyone who's a developer could make some version of their own to be audited by the public community. Eventually we would have a handful of publically trusted builds by different developers, and this could be done for the major cryptos, or any crypto, but especially monero since it barely has hardware support.
But the design of bitkey being an iso image on a cd rom or a usb, set to maximum privacy with two computers and a third device that scans QR codes. (on a side note there are security issues with QR codes, so that is one area for improvement).
I'm trying to imagine a world where people can't get safe devices, can't get hardware wallets, and need an open source alternative to compromised desktops. Obviously something as advanced as a linux OS build spread across three devices for airgapping has a learning curve, but UI can increase over time.
We have to remember there are a lot of tyrants in this world who want the monero and btc network to fail, want the fungibility and privacy and cash like nature fail, want to backdoor everything, they want to know if you're hungry, if you need to take a shit, before you even know, Minority report shit, but sadly unironically, and increasingly so.
Windows is the devil obviously, Apple even more so. We need a world moving towards Linux, RVISC chips, raspberry pis. Even the best intentions of cypherpunk and monero are very very vulnerable without the hardware to back it up. So there really needs to be a move towards this.

So the tension between BitcoinABC & BitcoinUnlimited is WAY worse than I thought; it may be a bomb set to explode, but I think this is how we solve it

Jonald Fyookball recently made a post about BitcoinABC's decision to go with Checkdatasig (CDS), which seemed to me to simply seek to ascertain in hindsight whether ABC made a good choice, something of interest since there was apparently grumblings surrounding that versus Datasigverify (DSV) which came from Andrew Stone and Bitcoin Unlimited.
I learned a lot from that post, and the most important takeaway wasn't anything to do with CDS or DSV.
What I realize is there has been some grit doing very real damage in the development engine of the Bitcoin Cash community. Things are NOT running as smoothly as they might appear on the surface. I'm talking about people, exceedingly valuable people, possibly quitting contributing, or worse, setting conditions for another damaging/irksome hard-fork and group of enemies if left unaddressed. We shouldn't think we can ignore this.
The good news is I think there is a fairly simple solution. Fortunately I paid attention when an outside consultant was brought in to speak on a panel at a Bitcoin conference before Bitcoin Cash forked. The BTC community was having governance issues of course and it made sense to explore fixes. Long story short, the expert's advice was it would be exceedingly helpful to get people to meet in person, at the very least. Her experience with the Debian Linux community showed that was the single best way to improve communications and encourage better working relations between very smart yet very independent open source developers. In the original thread ThomasZander corroborated this anecdotally saying:
"The moment you start doing work making changes that everyone in the ecosystem needs to follow, then you need to spend a lot of time supporting these changes. And this has, to be forward, been lacking."
and
"For me it helped a LOT when I finally met the Frenchman face to face and could ask him lots of questions till 2am or so."
referencing BitcoinABC lead developer Amaury Séchet.
I think the Bitcoin Cash community needs to prioritize getting the the two lead developers of the two most significant node implementations for Bitcoin Cash to meet in person. I think we neglect this to our own detriment. Distrust and harmful intention become a self-fulfilling prophesy: something that may have been an innocent misunderstanding isn't resolved, then (being human) people sense harbored distrust and/or resentment, which leads to pulling back and erecting defenses, which aggravates the early suspicions, then the subtle retaliations and further misunderstandings or an actual preference for appearing more "right" than the other side for self-preservation or standing, leading to questionable actions and more distrust which somewhere becomes animosity and things keep building. This all happens over distance, in the dark, like mold growing under some refrigerator. Yet it could probably be eradicated or at least substantially improved when people have the chance to meet in person, gaining the benefits of inflection and tone of voice, etc.
So, again, I believe it's very necessary for Andrew Stone and Amaury Séchet to meet in person. How do we make this happen?
