Bitcoin Verde v1.1.0 : Schnorr Signatures

For those unacquainted:
Bitcoin Verde is an indexing full-node, written from the ground up in Java. Bitcoin Verde comes with a block explorer, and a stratum mining pool. While we consider v1.1.0 still a beta release, our public node (https://bitcoinverde.org) has been stable since January.
Bitcoin Verde is the first to write a Schnorr Signature verification algorithm for Java (using Pieter Wuille's specification) ; if others implementations or wallets need to use our implementation as a reference, it can be located here. Verde's Schnorr implementation has been tested against the same suite of tests as ABC's (Test file located here). We intend to submit a pull request to Bouncy Castle sometime in the future.
Things that are new this release:
Similar to our previous release, Bitcoin Verde is very likely incompatible with Windows. Furthermore, it's an indexing node, and because of that will have more system requirements than a traditional node due to database indexes and the inherent underlying database structure. Our fully synced bitcoinverde.org node is currently using 615G disk space, and 21G of memory. Bitcoin Verde can be configured to run with far less memory, with a minimum around 2G. (Disable UTXO caching, disable TX Bloom Filter, set max database memory to ~1.5G). We highly recommend running BV on an SSD or M2. Traditional HDD drives are awful at random reads, and the last attempted initial-block-download we performed on an HDD took about 2+ weeks to complete.
If you have any problems with your node, please reach out to us at [email protected]. We'd be happy to help and troubleshoot problems. Alternatively, you can report bugs or issues to our github.
We've been diligently working on a mobile wallet based on the Bitcoin Verde codebase. We hope to provide a more modern replacement for bitcoinj, while also supporting SLP tokens. We are also ensuring all Bitcoin Verde SPV code can be transpiled to Objective-C (with Swift Bindings) for use on iOS. Finally, Bitcoin Verde is experimenting with a new message to improve the initial synchronization of SPV wallets called addrblocks, which will greatly improve the ability to validate SLP tokens. Additionally/alternatively, we have been looking at supporting BIP-157 for a more privacy-oriented way to achieve near-instant SPV synchronization; we look forward to sharing these thoughts in the near future.
Again, thank you to the XT team for your support. Another thank you for the ABC team for welcoming us into your conversations, and for helping us understand some of the nuanced aspects of this HF.
To install/upgrade your nodes, clone/pull master at https://github.com/softwareverde/bitcoin-verde, and reference the README under Installing/Upgrading.

Cannot POST via nodejs / error using express

Hi, I am trying to run a script via nodejs on my laptop. I want to POST data, which subsequently is supposed to be stored in a MySQL database (savedataremote.php contains this code).
This is my code:

const http = require('http');
const querystring = require('querystring');
const express = require('express')
const app = express()
app.get('/', function (req, res) {
res.send('Hello World')
})
app.listen(8000);

const parameters = {
`name: "UsefulAngle",` `type: "Website"`
}

const post_data = querystring.stringify(parameters);

const options = {
`url: "`[`https://www.pflegeauskunft-hessen.de`](https://www.pflegeauskunft-hessen.de)`",` `port: "8000",` `path: "/wp-content/themes/Avada-Child-Theme/active-java/bitcoin_app/savedataremote.php",` `method: "POST",` `headers : {` `'Content-Type': 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded'` `}`
}

const request = http.request(options, (response)=>{
`let chunks_of_data = [];`

`response.on('data', (fragments) => {` `chunks_of_data.push(fragments);` `});`

`response.on('end', () => {` `let response_body = Buffer.concat(chunks_of_data);` `console.log(response_body.toString());` `});`

`response.on('error', (error) => {` `console.log(error);` `});`
});

request.on('error', (error) => {
`console.log('Error Code: ' + error.code);` `console.log('Error Message: ' + error.message);`
});

request.write(post_data);
request.end();

I first create a server via express on port 8000. Then, I try to POST the data via port 8000. When I run the script in Mac terminal, I get the following output:

Error

Cannot POST /wp-content/themes/Avada-Child-Theme/active-java/bitcoin_app/savedataremote.php

I guess "Cannot POST /wp-content/themes/Avada-Child-Theme/active-java/bitcoin_app/savedataremote.php" somehow means it cannot POST the data via the php file savedataremote.php. Why does it not work?
ANY hint would be appreciated.

Calling Javascript function from server side

Hello,
consider this page: https://pflegeauskunft-hessen.de/wp-content/themes/Avada-Child-Theme/active-java/bitcoin_app/index.html. What's happening in the frontend is not important. It has a .js file running in the background (autosave.js), that records bitcoin price data and a time stamp and sends them to a .php file which stores it in a mySQL database.
Via setInterval, the data collection works while I access the website. When I'm not on the website, autosave.js is not running.
I would like to have this task run from "server side". I.e. I would like autosave.js to run even while noone visits the site. The server should simply execute it permanently.
I am aware that this kind of task should probably be done with PHP or another programming language. However, I'm not too familiar with PHP and am currently learning Javascript, therefore I'd like to go ahead in Javascript.
Google search didn't yield any good results. Do you have hints on how to achieve this?
Thx!

Why does clicking the button trigger an event in one case, but not in the other case?

Hi, consider this very simple piece of code (https://jsfiddle.net/Lehorn/agv20yo1/2/):

Why does this basic logic not work on my website? (https://pflegeauskunft-hessen.de/wp-content/themes/Avada-Child-Theme/active-java/bitcoin_app/index.html)
It's just a test environment. Via 'console elements' or 'console sources', you can see that upon load, three .js files are loaded: "Jquery library", "apiconnect.js", which creates the 'Bitcoin app' via modifying the DOM and "portfolio_calculator.js", which is supposed to establish the click logic which I presented to you at the beginning.
The file portfolio_calculator.js looks like this:
console.log("DUDE WHAT UP");

$("#dollar_button").click(function() {
`console.log("click")`
})
While "DUDE WHAT UP" is recorded in the console, "click" is not recorded when is clicked.
I don't understand this. It seems to me that the setup for triggering the function is given in both cases. Does the fact that the button was created via modifying the DOM have an impact?

Thx for any hints!

Trezor agent in container generate SSH keys

Is it possible for the trezor agent to run inside a docker container and have it connect to the trezor bridge running on a windows host?
eg trezor-agent [docker container] trezor bridge [ windows 10 host ] trezor
I just really want to avoid installing java on my developer box... also the windows version apparently uses the java bitcoin multibit java api which is deprecated
https://github.com/Multibit-Legacy/multibit-hardware
being able to pull a linux container and just have it work will be a big help to windows users. Although one difference is that the pin entry would need to happen on the windows host.
update:
I got it to work using WSL u/matejck thanks for the suggestion. I just did steps 1 & 2 and skipped the rest. The trezor bridge was running on my host already. Now I need to try using ssh.
I get the warning: 2019-06-25 10:23:33,081 WARNING DISPLAY not defined
and it seems to hang for a bit, it might be related to that warning.

I made my own Blockchain in Java (Part 2) now with Source Code!

Hello all! Same guy that posted about a Java Bitcoin Address Generator. I've completed my blockchain mockup and I couldn't be happier with it. Although it doesn't have persistent state and doesn't use new addresses as Change addresses (since the wallets are not HD, just single-keypair wallets), I learned a lot from doing this.
It really does help to understand the complexity of cryptocurrencies when you try to make it from scratch by yourself. There's a ton of security behind bitcoin, and some of it may seem absurd (SHA-256 hashing into RIPEMD-160 into 2x SHA-256 like Damn... all for a checksum).
If you want to mess around with the program, I've uploaded it to Github (Link here). It's a functioning wallet-type program that has Accounts you can switch between where each account has its own KeyPair that you can then send and receive funds to. There is a block reward for mining new blocks that is distributed from the "coinbase" wallet.
NOTE: This is intended to be for educational purposes and should in no way be considered a real cryptocurrency/blockchain. It only runs for the time you have it open and loses all information when closed. The addresses it generates ARE valid bitcoin addresses that you can use, but do so at your own risk and know what you're doing. There is no seed for the addresses that are generated.
