Coinfloor Changes Tick Size to £1 GBP

Hello everyone,
Today we announced a change to our tick size (the minimum price increment on our exchange) from £0.01 to £1 GBP. We would love to hear your feedback and thoughts on the reasoning behind the change. To learn about why we made this change, feel free to read on below:
Announcement: Starting today, we will be changing the tick size (the minimum price difference between orders placed on the exchange) from £0.01 to £1*. This means that instead of placing orders to buy or sell at £501.01 and £501.02 (as an example), you will be able to place orders at £501, £502, £503, etc.
Liquidity: Coinfloor is the main exchange for bitcoins in the UK and the source of the best liquidity in GBP:XBT. What does “Best Liquidity” mean? Liquidity means the ability to quickly and easily buy and sell bitcoins without affecting the market price. It is important for everyone using Coinfloor as our liquidity provides the best prices for bitcoin in GBP, the ability to trade between the two quickly and protection against large orders matching at bad prices.
Liquidity is a difficult thing to measure, but two important aspects include having a tight (or low) spread between the best bid (highest buy order) and the best ask (lowest sell order). Another part of liquidity is having a deep order book, to prevent high slippage on a large order (receiving a price far away from spot). Coinfloor has maintained the tightest bid-ask spread and the deepest order book in GBP:XBT nearly since launch, through attracting market makers, traders and financial institutions. We also offer an OTC service for anyone looking to trade in large blocks and is concerned about slippage.
Tick Size as the third aspect of Liquidity: In addition to a tight spread and a deep order book, the tick size is a third crucial element of liquidity. In particular the relationship between the average spread and the tick size. Traditional exchanges aim for the average spread to be as close to one tick as possible, since this allows visible liquidity to build up at common price points rather than spreading out at dozens or hundreds of price points. Having a finely granular tick size also makes providing liquidity and market making more difficult. Someone who places a passive limit order is taking a risk and hoping that someone will trade against their order, but if another user can under-cut or over-bid by £0.01 and “jump the queue”, then it becomes much harder to know where to place a passive limit order and expect to be filled. This change aims to reduce the mental costs of providing liquidity for all users on Coinfloor.
What does this mean for a bitcoin trader on Coinfloor? If you are an infrequent trader, this will make it harder for people to out-bid or under-cut your orders by small amounts, which should make it easier to trade more frequently. If you are an active or large trader, this should mean that you will see larger amounts (as orders aggregate) at each price point, which should make it easier to trade in larger sizes.
But no other exchange does this? First of all, we are making this change because we believe it will make for a better, more liquid exchange, as has been stated above, and we believe other exchanges may move in this direction in the future. Coinfloor has had a long history of innovating in the bitcoin exchange space. We were the first exchange to store bitcoins using multi-signature cold storage and to do a bitcoin provable solvency audit visible on the blockchain. We are the only centrally cleared exchange that leverages the role of bitcoin brokers and is entirely focused on the UK bitcoin market.
Best regards,
Mark Lamb - Coinfloor

Buying 100 bitcoins, fee's?

Where would be the best place to buy 100 bitcoins in GBP? And what fee's can I expect to pay?

Possible evidence of Coordinated Dump

Not sure if this is something we can do anything about but I think I found evidence that dumpers are buying bitcoin in GBP and dumping for USD. In tradingview, I did BTCUSD/BTCGBP and then click compare and show it next to BTCUSD. The times that BTC price is falling on high volume, the ratio chart shoots downward.
Presumably GBP loses strength against bitcoin faster than the dollar since the dump is purchased in pounds and liquidated in USD. Can anyone give me their thoughts on this? Thanks!

Current best GBP buy/sell options?

What are people's current preferred options to buy and sell bitcoins in GBP? I've used intersango in the past and I don't quite understand the notice on their site but it seems like I can't use them with a British bank account any more.
I've noticed blockchain.info lets you buy bitcoins, but I want a place where I can trade in both directions.
What are bitcoin nordic like? They seem to have been around a year but they charge ~£5 for some sell transactions which seems high.

2 things: LocalBitcoins GBP price on preev, and bank transfers in the US?

Just a quick question because I was confused.. I've been trying to keep an eye on the price on preev.com for the LocalBitcoins in GBP, but it often seems to be saying it's way higher than it actually is.. why is this?
So, I just went to the LocalBitcoins site's US sales to check and noticed that bank transfers aren't an option there? How do you guys over there send money from one bank to another?

Decentr ($DEC) - foundational cross-chain and cross-platform DeFi protocol

  1. SUMMARY
Decentr is a protocol designed to make blockchain/DLT mainstream by allowing DeFi applications built on various blockchains to “talk to each other”. Decentr is a 100% secure and decentralised Web 3.0 protocol where users can apply PDV (personal data value) to increase APR on $DEC that users loan out as part of of our DeFi dLoan features, as well as it being applied at PoS when paying for stuff online. Decentr is also building a BAT competitor browser and Chrome/Firefox extension that acts as a gateway to 100% decentralised Web 3.0
Allows DeFi Dapps to access all Decentr’s dFintech features, including dLoan, dPay. Key innovation is that the protocols is based on a user’s ability to leverage the value of their data as exchangeable “currency”.
  1. KEY CONCEPTS

  1. REVENUE MODEL
A fee is charged for every transaction using dPay whereby an exchange takes place between money (fiat and digital) and data, and vice versa, either as part of DeFi features or via a dApp built on Decentr. They are launching pilot programmes in the following industries:
  1. Banking/PSP Industry: On Product launch, due to Decentr’s powerful PSP connections (including the worlds #2 PSP by volume), a medium-scale pilot program will be launched, which will seed the network with 150,000 PSP customers in primarily the Spanish/LAC markets, generating revenue from day one.
  2. “Bricks and Mortar” Supermarket/Grocery Industry: Decentr aims to ensure the long-term competitiveness of “bricks and mortar” supermarkets against online-only grocery retailers, such as Amazon, by a) building secure tech that allows supermarkets to digitise every aspect of their supply chains and operational functions, while b) allowing supermarkets to leverage this incredibly valuable data as a liquid asset class. Expected revenue by Year 5: $114Mn per year.
  3. Online Advertising Industry: Decentr’s 100% decentralised platform credits users secure data with payable value, in the form of PDV, for engaging with ads. The Brave browser was launched in 2012 and in 8 years has reached over 12 million monthly active users, accented by as many as 4.3 million daily active users.
  4. TOKEN $DEC AND SALE
Decentr recently complete their token sale on a purchase portal powered by Dolomite where they raised $974,000 in 10 minutes for a total sale hardcap of 1.25M. The $DEC token is actively trading on multiple exchanges including Uniswap and IDEX. Listed for free on IDEX, Hotbit, Hoo, Coinw, Tidex, BKex. Listed on CoinGecko and Coinmarketcap. Listed on Delta and Blockfolio apps.

$DEC Token utility:
A tradeable unit of value that is both internal and external to the Decentr platform.A unit of conversion between fiat entering and exiting the Decentr ecosystem.A way to capture the value of user data and combines the activity of every participant of the platform performing payment (dPay), or lending and borrowing (dLend), i.e a way to peg PDV to tangible/actionable value.Method of payment in the Decentr ecosystem.A method to internally underwrite the “Deconomy.

small passive income while browsing the web

Introduction
If you were on the internet in the late 1990s, you might remember companies like "AllAdvantage" that promised to pay you to browse the web. You could install a program that tracked your browsing and showed you targeted ads at the top of the screen, then "AllAdvantage" would give you a cut of the ad revenue you generated.
These schemes largely disappeared after the dot-com crash. But Brendan Eich, the creator of the JavaScript programming language and cofounder and former CTO of Mozilla, thinks his company Brave Software has found a way to revive that old idea.
What is it?
Brave makes a browser based on Google Chrome that blocks tracking scripts and other technologies that spy on your online activity. As a result, it also blocks many web ads; if you visit any website using the Brave browser, you won’t see any ads. But Brave will give users the option to see ads that Eich says will respect your privacy. The ads will appear as desktop notifications, he says, not as replacements for the ads the Brave browser blocks. So you still won’t see ads on any website, but you might see them on the right lower corner of your screen. If you choose to see these ads, you’ll get 70 percent of the revenue they generate.
Eich hopes Brave can solve two of the web's most vexing problems the privacy and revenue problem by turning the traditional digital advertising model on its head. Today, ad networks pay sites for ad space and web browsers like Brave and Chrome deliver content from those publishers to users. Brave is trying to put the browser in the center of the advertising experience. Instead of paying publishers directly, ad networks would pay Brave, which will pass part of the money to users and keep a cut for itself.
By handling advertising in the browser on your device, Brave says it will be able to target ads without sending your data to the cloud, and protect your privacy. When you interact with an ad on Brave, the browser sends notice to the company's servers, but doesn't include any identifying information. Eich sees four sets of winners: browser makers get paid; users get paid, and get more privacy; advertisers can target pitches without running afoul of European privacy regulations; and publishers can survive in a world where many users are installing ad blockers.
Publishers and ad networks might bristle at the idea of putting browser makers in the middle of their business. But in recent years browsers have taken a more active role in shaping the web, instead of merely displaying a website’s content. Chrome now blocks ads on a small number of sites with particularly egregious advertising practices, while browsers like Firefox and Safari have added privacy protections. Meanwhile, browser plugins are giving users more control over their experience. There are Chrome extensions, for example, that let you change Facebook's color scheme, or change the way images are displayed on Pinterest. And of course there are extensions that block all ads.
Trying to win advertisers and publishers to a new model isn't Brave's only challenge. It also needs users. Eich says Brave has 15 million users and is growing.
Brave will give users a 70 percent cut of its advertising revenue, which Eich estimates could work out to about $10 a month. Brave will pay users with its own bitcoin-style "cryptocurrency” called Basic Attention Tokens or BAT, which has traded for as little as 24 cents over the past 12 months, according to CoinMarketCap. You can exchange the BAT you have received for viewing ads into USD, EUR, GBP, CHF and many more currencies.
The company offers a service through the cryptocurrency exchange Uphold to allow users to change, sell and buy BAT or donate it to publishers, and for publishers to exchange the BAT they receive for dollars. Advertisers like HomeDepot or recent campaigns included brands such as Verizon, Newegg, Chipotle, and PayPal/Honey, in addition to earlier campaigns by Amazon, Harry’s Razors, Intel, CBS, KIND snacks, Logitech, Lenovo, Grubhub, Belkin, Quickbooks, Evernote and some of cryptocurrency related companies, will be able to buy ads either with BAT or with traditional currencies.
Eich says Brave opted to create its own tokens using the Ethereum cryptocurrency platform in part to avoid regulatory requirements, such as verifying users' identifies, that partners like Uphold are better equipped to handle.
Estimated revenue? (depending on the country you live in the revenue can be higher or lower)
I made around 3oo$ so far this year using 3 devices, just for viewing some ads.
5 months so far july is not included if you calculate it down for 1 device, 100$/5months = 20$ a month just for viewing ads, you would need to buy risky stocks worth of 2000$ to get the same amount per month.
can only recommend everyone to try it, not every country has the same number of advertisers so you probably get the most out of it when you live in the USA.
If you are interested here is a quick guide how to set it up to get the max amount out of Brave:
Quickstartguide:
1 Download brave here
2 Activate the reward system (gif link below)Gif link
3 go into the settings an deactivate auto contribution and activate 5 ads per hour (image link below)image link
4 Create an Account on Uphold and connect it with your BraveBrowser.
Now you are good to go and can make some money on something you do anyway.
I hope this helps some folks in the community to make some extra bucks.
edit1:you can find more infos and support here:brave_browser & BATProject or www.brave.com
edit2:the earnings are depenging on the number of devices you are using and were you are living. Best paying countries: United States (69) United Kingdom (39) Canada (36) Australia (35) New Zealand (26) Germany (21) Ireland (21) France (18)( the number next to the country are the companies that are running ads on brave for this particular country, the more companies the more revenue )
you can find a full list with all countries and campaigns here: https://brave.com/transparency/
edit3:You don't need to browse to a certain website to receive ads, just browse as you are used to, play browser games, watch videos on youtube or do whatever you want.Sometimes Ads appear on the startpage looks like that https://i.imgur.com/5tohhRc.jpg and after some time on the right lower corner a clickable pop-up appears looks like that->https://i.imgur.com/CTGdVsu.png
edit4:If you want to import your bookmarks and settings from your old browser:on the right top corner of the browser is a button ->https://i.imgur.com/oi8EAri.jpg click it > than on settings > and than you got the option to import bookmarks and settings from your old browser.
If you want to sync brave between devices and for backups:type brave://flags/ into the adressbar and than brave sync into the search bar and acticate itif its enabled it should look like this https://imgur.com/a/tCMDgDjthan just click on sync ->https://i.imgur.com/oi8EAri.jpg
here is a guide ->https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/articles/360021218111-How-do-I-set-up-Sync
edit5: Don't keep your BAT from free token grants to long in your browser, always send your bat to an external wallet or exchange like uphold, only tokens from free token grants have an expire date if they dont get used they go back to the bat pool. you can find more infos about this here -> https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018305731-Why-does-my-BAT-have-an-expiration-date-

Saving money on PayPal transfers when buying reps!

Just purchased my first ever rep through Mirotime and PayPal transfer was my only option of payment (not having any access to Bitcoin) - apologies in advance if this tip has already been shared, I'm new to here.
When sending the transfer, PayPal add a conversion fee and their conversion rates are pretty poor from GBP to USD.
I changed my card details from my Lloyds to my Starling bank account (though this would have worked perfectly with Monzo, Revolut etc.) and chose to take my bank's conversion rate rather than PayPal's.
My total cost went from £292 to £279 just by doing this as Starling (and other banks above) offer great conversion rates and no fees - thought it would be a tip worth sharing for anyone regularly using this payment method!
These banks are free to sign up with and could definitely end up saving a lot of money for repeat purchasers.

UK TGBP Crediting - No Thank you - Highly Risky.

So our funds are safe and with crypto.com and not wirecard, That's great news for us all. Now our money that belongs to us is pretty much useless.. we cannot spend it, some of us have Bill's to pay. I think crypto.com should be finding away to send us a cheque or bank transfer.. it's our money after all.
I do not want my money which currently I do have some kind of protection with, it is regulated and I have some rights.
Once they sell my GBP into a Stable Coin called TGBP all your rights are gone. Cryptocurrency still is not regulated, if something was to happen to your TGBP there is nothing nobody can do. Stable coins can still collapse and if it was to.. we will lose all of our money. It's a possibility.
Where as if it stayed GBP you are much much safer than an unregulated cryptocurrency.
I have not given crypto.com any permission to sell MY money into a Non regulated internet coin which is completely worthless in the eyes of banks and any laws.
And if you do decide to sell into bitcoin then sell to your bank. Your going to lose money in exchange fees when this is completely none of our fault.

How to set myself up for investing using dollar cost averaging. Automatic weekly buys?!

I would like to know if anyone can help me with the process of setting myself up to automatically buy bitcoin on a weekly basis and then transfer the bitcoin into my wallet or potentially a crypto bank account to gain interest.
I am in the UK and I would like to purchase bitcoin using either Euro or GBP.
Currently I use Kraken and Coinbase as exchanges and I have a wallet.
Any help would be appreciated as I am struggling to figure it out alone and I am a complete beginner.
Thank you in advance!

Are these the right/best steps to getting ready to stake?

Hi, I own a small amount of Cardano on eToro, but would like to buy a larger amount to be able to stake. I know there is a lot of info within posts here, but it can be a little overwhelming for people new to this. So I have worked out what I think I need to do and have written a checklist below. I was hoping just to get someone to tell me if the steps are correct and my assumptions are right? Also any recommendations on different steps/changes/wallets is welcome. Thanks
I am in the UK so currency I use is GBP
  1. Deposit funds from Bank to Currency Exchange - Kraken. Fee is charged. It seems to me that Kraken's fees (overall, including fees further down list) are lower than Binance, but neither take money deposits without a charge unless you use Etana, but Etana taking a long time to verify my account and seem to have tech issues at the mo
  2. Neither Kraken or Binance have GB /ADA pair so I need to purchase a crypto that does, such as Bitcoin. I believe this is a cheaper way than buying in USD for example. Fees/spread apply to this purchase
  3. Buy ADA using Bitcoin. Fees/spread apply to this purchase
  4. Transfer ADA to Daedalus wallet. Fees apply. I have installed Daedalus
  5. Wait until (some date in near future) then Opt into a stake pool (I will read how to do that later)
  6. If I want to sell Cardano in the future I will need to transfer back to an Exchange wallet and sell for GBP, again with all fees associated with that.
Does this look good? There are quite a few fees along the way, I hope they don't add up to too much.
Thanks
EDIT: Thanks for the help, I have manged to buy some Cardano!! I did a bank transfer to Kraken, which I was then a little worried about as it said it could take 3 days, but it arrived withing 30 minutes. I then purchased Bitcoin (which was hard work for a noob!) and then used that to buy Cardano. I can't transfer to Daedalus as there is a 72 hour lock on withdrawals!

Unverified Paypal, Singapore(SG)/Asia and International Sites

Hey pals! I've spent the past month ruining my eyes searching up sites that pay to unverified Paypal accounts in Asia. I'm from Singapore, but do not click away just yet, for you might find something new despite living in Europe or the US.

Surveytime.io(International)
This bad baby pays 1USD per survey, and pays out in less than 24h. Pays in Bitcoin or Paypal. What's not to love?

lifepointspanel.com (International)
Pays $5 every 600 points(or 3-4 surveys). The money is paid out within 5-10 days. Alternatively, if you're not a fan of Paypal, they have other e-vouchers on their site which I suspect differ for every country.
Rakuten Insight Surveys(US, EU, Asia)
They pay $3 a pop, about every 2 surveys. Paypal, or e-vouchers. Only pay out from the 20th to the end of the month, though.
Testable Minds(International)
There's a minimum limit of $10, however they pay in USD or GBP, which is always fun when your country's currency is weaker than the above two. There's a 5% Paypal fee, or you can use Revolut to get all the $$$. The studies are generally fun, but a drawback is that you need to have notifications on and be at your laptop all day, because if you don't click on a study immediately, it's all filled up.
The Feedbackers(International)
A site I recently discovered(20th May +) in the dredges of beermoney or WorkOnline. They pay you to watch amateur short films(less than 10min) and critique them. You have to do an initial film for free, but once that hurdle is crossed, money! It's really fun, I love it.
Curious Cat(International)
I like this application. Available on both iOS and Android, there's a minimum 100 points(approximately $1) limit, and it almost never disqualifies you in the middle of a survey. If your profile is not a suitable match, you are either screened out at the very start or after answering one or two questions. Though it might get frustrating being constantly screened out after just clicking on a survey, the application isn't broken, your profile just doesn't fit. Better than others in that respect.
Reddit(Is it international? Hmm....)
WorkOnline, slavelabour, tutor, HireaWriter and PaidStudies(this one's only for the US people lol) are all great ways to earn money!

https://imgur.com/BurYF0d (link to cash I made this month)
Other applications that I haven't cashed out on yet but get a mention because I think they can be very useful :
SoonVibes(FR, EU, International)
Get paid to listen to music! You get points for ranking an unknown musician's song on Blind Rating mode. A French startup company, it's 10 points for liking a song, and 50 more for commenting. You get paid in vouchers - 5000 points for a $10 Steam voucher, and $10,000 for a $25 Netflix voucher. Have at it, people.
UserCrowd(International)
Get paid to do tests. I can't specify what exactly you'll be doing, because I've only gotten two tests because of my geographical location, but I got paid 20 cents to click once on an image, so think about that. Other usability testing sites that look fun but I haven't been able to access BECAUSE OF MY LOCATION are Checkealos and Ping Pong. I wish you more luck than I have had.
Apiary Buzz(Singapore)
Cash out is standard $20. You can get e-vouchers for Guardian, Watson's, or just get the money through Paynow. It's like Milieu Surveys in that the interface is very nice, and the surveys are only 1-2 mins long, but it requires forever to cash out.
Opinion App(Singapore)
Sign up for a bunch of online survey panels, like Triaba, ResearchMinds, TGM Panel, and all those panels will conveniently show up in this one application. Minimum pay-out is $16 for all of them, unfortunately.
Milieu Surveys(Asia)
Do 2-3 min surveys every day and get $10. Not a massive hassle as the layout is rather nice.

That is all from me! I hope this post benefits someone! Will cross-post in beermoneyglobal.

Are You An Experienced Trader?

Anyone have experience making money trading bitcoins in localbitcoins.com? If so, can you share your methods that you use to be profitable? At the same time, can someone help me improve my trading method? At the moment my method is this:
  1. Buy BTC from a seller for $9,781.26 USD/BTC using Zelle as a means of exchanging payment.
  2. Sell BTC to a buyer paying in either GBP or EUR. ($7,257.13 GBP/BTC or $8,186.39 EUBTC, respectively)
  3. Reinvest some of the money into a cloud mining company to produce more Bitcoins per day.
  4. Rinse & Repeat.
Also, can anyone recommend any places where I can buy cheap bitcoins? Coinbase is too slow for my liking and they don't have an option of adding credit cards or payment methods. Then there are other exchanges which require completing KYC which I despise wholeheartedly.
Side note: I found PayPal to be quite a pain in the ass to deal with when it comes to receiving and sending money to other sellers and buyers. Everything was going good until they decided to stop me sending payments. Now the buyers I usually deal with tell me my account "is not ready to receive funds".

Investment Fraud - please help , I don‘t know what to do...

Hi All , about a year and a half about I invested 5 bitcoin personally, 10k GBP my gfs money, and 20k USD a friend put in as well with someone in the UK that had a crypto arbitrage fund that supposedly would pay 10% a week returns, with over 100 other people invested into the trade as well.
The guy spoke a great talk, sent emails with updates on the trade every week, in April 2019 he said he was moving the trade into another fund, and would return 70% a month and it would compound over 10 months, blindly everyone agreed to go forward with it.
Around June 2019 he started to say there was complications with the Fund and by September his disappeared , he continued to email other members saying that he’s working on it and that everything will be sorted soon...
Hard working people are out there entire savings (me included) behind this guy, many have gone bankrupt , one woman almost died because she can’t pay for her medical bills , some people have lost everything because of this individual ... he has not contacted me , my friend and other members in several months to over a year!
I’ve made multiple attempts to contact him to reach out , he disconnected his phone, deleted his Facebook , etc
Today a video went viral with him on secret twitter account he had of him sitting in his house talking about how great Donald trump is with a smirk on his face, and people praising him for being such a hero ! It makes me sick to my stomach! ive gone to twitter and called him out I don’t know what else to do except hunt him down with the police when the country opens back...
I am from the US, others in the trade are from UK , Europe and Aussie ...
It’s a crap situation for myself and many others involved ... some people still believe he’s honest and that he’s going to come through and do the right thing! But I doubt it!
I have a paper trail , emails, correspondence, messages as much as I can...
I’m not familiar with UK law so would much appreciate any help!
My feeling is with his new twitter fame he will try to harm more and more people and repeat this!
Thanks!

Elrond Spendable Directly from VISA Cards at 60 Million Merchants, +500.000 New Users via Swipe
We are thrilled to announce that Elrond will be integrated with Swipe services. This will make the $ERD token directly available for onboarding by more than 500.000 new users.

https://preview.redd.it/hrv4v6zxm7c51.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=25b3672fcdb34e4655ae970f21dbc0f3319831df
Furthermore, $ERD will be spendable via Swipe Wallet and its associated Visa debit cards, in either digital or physical form, at 60 million merchants directly, as well as through services such as Google Pay, Apple Pay & Samsung Pay.
“Bringing our high throughput, low latency, and inexpensive transactional layer online is an important step for our launch. Convenience, ease of use, and utility for the ERD currency is another. We are thrilled to work with the Swipe team, on an integration which brings us closer to what will be a defining moment for the new internet economy.” said Beniamin Mincu, Elrond CEO.
Swipe Wallets have associated virtual Visa debit cards, which can also be obtained in physical form, to be used as any normal card. The payment process automatically converts the selected cryptocurrency into fiat to execute a seamless transaction at any of the 60 million merchants, or via Google, Apple and Samsung payment services.
The integration is important for Elrond because it gets access to 500.000 new users in 31 European countries, and soon launching in Asia and North America. It also offers existing Elrond users the possibility to spend $ERD directly as $EUR, $GBP, $USD and $KRW anywhere VISA cards are accepted, as well as through the major mobile payment services, with cashback options in Bitcoin.
